Not sure what to think of TGS. Underperforming for years - some forums are mentioning takeover but will have to wait and see if that eventuates

Sorry - there was some really bad spelling in that last past - the word should have been 'fortuitously'

Thanks Merc for your sensible post..I haven't as yet put any money on the table for this one as I was unaware of what was going on until I came across an article last night while at work.Fortuosely I guess given what Boundless had just posted. It seems, for the present anyway, that things have settled somewhat in the Congo, and, as you say, they need the money. I guess in a region such as this, this sort of thing comes and goes a fair bit.
Or else they can come to Oz and get bludgeoned by taxes, high wages and production costs... biggrin.gif

Cheers

I don't know about going bust....but yes, it seems a rebel coup is in the making. However, they still need money. AND they need people to run this mine so that they can get money. What a new deal would be is another question. If there were a new deal, then no one would invest there again.
Probably get the same deal...TGS continues to be profitable....and the new rulers get the dough instead of the old rulers.

My thoughts
Merc
by the way....one of our banks is a substantial holder (but probably they hold it for someone else).

These guys were rated a buy on The Bull website based on the following

QUOTE
Tiger has proved itself to be a competent and profitable copper producer from high grade ore in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The shares were sold down heavily in October on suggestions the DRC was going to look at local equity stakes of up to 35 per cent in mining projects, but investors have obviously overlooked that Tiger already has a 40 per cent local partner. The shares should recover and resume their up trend when this is properly understood.

Thoughts anyone ??

Cheers
