Iatia signs contract with ophthalmology manufacturer

Melbourne Australia: Wavefront imaging company, Iatia (ASX:IAT) announced that it has signed a contract with an international ophthalmology and optometry manufacturer (identity subject to confidentiality agreements) for the production of an autorefractor featuring QPI technology.

The contract is excellent news for Iatia and its shareholders, as Iatia stands to make a 15 per cent return on each product sold, which equates to approximately AUD$2,750 return per unit.

Approximately 6,000 autorefractors are sold each year worldwide, and it is anticipated that this new product will enjoy a significant portion of the market.

....The autorefractor is one of up to five co‐development projects currently in discussion with the manufacturer.

The next project focuses on developing a product that assists with the early detection of glaucoma. Glaucoma is now the second most common cause of blindness in the world, affecting an estimated 65 million people. Locally, glaucoma is the second most common cause of registering for the blind pension in Australia.

Oracle,

The next 12 months should be interesting as IAT comes out of "proof of concept" stage with some of these projects and moves into the licensing/royalty stage.

Unlike the Biotech industry theres no FDA/trials approvals required to slow things down and theres no competition with this patented technology.

Hi apache,

Today's announcement is certainly a welcome "second string" to the IAT bow, particularly as they have identified ophthalmology as their key market going forward.

Product launch not until November but as sales ramp up, should ensure profitability at least.

Interesting company.

Cheers

Recognition of QPI wavefront technology is slowly spreading.... just one of several on going product streams for QPI ....

QUOTE
Agreement reached for release of ophthalmology product

Wavefront sensing company Iatia Limited (ASX:IAT) is pleased to announce today that agreement has been reached with an international ophthalmology manufacturer (company name subject to confidentiality) to release a radically new autorefractor featuring Iatia’s QPI technology.

This agreement is the result of rigorous testing by the manufacturer, including prototype development, and is another illustration of the strength of the technology. Despite the testing undertaken it will have only taken the manufacturer sixteen months between when the initial agreement to collaborate was announced to the ASX and the completion of the production prototype. This demonstrates how quickly the QPI technology can be incorporated in a variety of products.

The agreement outlines an upfront fee of AUD81,800 (50,000 Euros) and an ongoing fee per unit, which is based on 15% of the wholesale price of the autorefractor. As stated last year to the ASX, if the autorefractor achieves its target of 15% of the global market, then sales should exceed AUD14 million....
