For now, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are set to hold trade talks in Beijing beginning Thursday. The Chinese delegation under Vice Premier Liu He is expected to lead a team to the U.S. next week.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed she will travel to China on Sunday to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Her scheduled visit to China was last year put on hold, prompting speculation China may have taken offence to the Government Security Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) warning against Spark using Huawei's equipment for 5G.

"I have cut it back to one day of meetings," she said of her trip, citing her commitments to New Zealand in the wake of the Christchurch terror attack. It was intended to be a longer trip but under the circumstances it "didn't seem appropriate".

The previous PM, Key, must be laughing his socks off. When he went there he was heaped with all the fanfare and prestige the Chinese could muster. Jacinda goes there on the back of a massacre and will get a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Meanwhile, the sycophants on HC are saying BLT is about to do a deal with Merck. If that is so, why did Merck get with Moderna? And, where is Pfizer?

GTG going to be the ice breaker that puts the market on notice? They're in a trading halt pending foreign governments cash infusion. Sounds like the Chinese are pulling into the driveway.

What can you do in a day? And why would the leader of China bother with the leader of NZ for a single day? A single day isn't a day even. It comes down to just an hour or two. Maybe a half day tops.

Maybe they'll close out a dairy deal together. A forestry deal. Any deal. Or perhaps they'll just go through the perfunctory nice to meet you, welcome to China kind of thing.

BREAKING: The Pentagon has notified Congress that it has authorized the transfer of $1 billion to begin new wall construction along the US-Mexico border

If this is true, the military is on the move. If the military is on the move, it won't be long before DARPA makes theirs in biotech. DARPA are partners with The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Moderna. Trump is a military man through and through.

Six degrees of separation.

Roll on Easter. Announcement then gives plenty of time for a close for June 30th. Just in time for Independence Day celebrations.

The question remains: Where's Pfizer?

My mate, Enumerate was adamant they'd come crawling back with tail between legs. I'm wondering if they'll do a Bethlehem Steel.

Did anyone watch Godfather III? Read David Yallop?

Ammunition spent.

It in this quote is the Mueller report into Trump. Last Friday was the Ides of March. Hence you'd think it would come. Instead there was a massacre in Christchurch. They must mean that faction within the Democrats that are rabid against Trump. But what does he mean "ammunition"? Was Christchurch ammunition?

Meanwhile, another ring of the bell to signal the death knell of BLT, ddRNAi, CRISPR and everything else associated with gene editing as opposed to just interfering. Cue the success of ssRNAi.

That was on the 27th of Feb. The 21 days are up and as expected, no big, big, big happenings or anything even remotely historic.

Still, its rather interesting following him/her/them.

Its been rumoured KKR are working on something big. It had better be.

Partnering talks led to Biogen’s $800M Nightstar buyout as players clustered around the hot deal table for gene therapies

Anyone looking for some insight into just how hot gene therapies have become should turn their attention today to the behind-the-scenes negotiations that went into Biogen’s $800 million deal to buy Nightstar Therapeutics $NITE.

Over a period of 7 months, they held buyout and partnering talks with 4 different companies before Biogen $BIIB emerged as the winner " or at least the last one at the table talking M&A. During that time, Nightstar would paint a variety of potential futures for itself, topped by a bull argument that it could nail a $1.1 billion profit on $1.2 billion in sales come 2025.
