With a bit of luck there might be a little bit more yet!
My dilemna (if you can call lgish profits a dilemna) is that I have a parcel purchased march-04 and would obviously like to see this run at least 1 day over 12mths rather than 1 mth earlier! laughingsmiley.gif

PS. yes I did buy a nice bottle of red tonight -- well done to all spc holders!

i am not sure who would come over the top given the solid premium, but you never know what is around the corner. you just need to work out cost of capital for the time.

Yes, sweet for any holding I would say. I wonder if that is the end of the matter now?

Now a couple of months to truely evaluate CCA and decide whether to take the scrip or cash/scip or cash offer.

Initial thoughts are, CCA could really do some good with SPC brand (lots in the rags about this today) but does is management capable and the fact that Alanta is helping the bid encourages me somewhat as more than one set of eyes are clearly on this "strategic" acquisition by CCA.

Will post my findings later, probably in the new year!!!

Cheers

And the deal is as good as done, plus a dividend payable

$2.08 for all cash
$2.15 for 50% cash, 50% scrip
$2.22 for all scrip

All SPC holders have been rewarded very nicely, time to say goodbye to this one.

CCL bid $2.05 for SPC.
I noticed CCLs last purchase was a fruit juice company.
My mate says this has been annouced on the Dow Jones news wire.

see what shakes out bello, there was some talk in the press of +$2 from either CCL or BPC for SPC.

CCL is halted...i spose we can join the dots.

personally i would love to see CCL have a crack at NFD but thats wishful thinking given todays developments.

good luck

Coke may launch $480m bid for SPC
The Australian Financial Review --- Page: 17 : 11 November 2004 Original article by Simon EvansTansy Harcourt and Sue Mitchell

ABIX Summary
Australia's Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) is believed to be finalising a $A480m takeover bid for SPC Ardmona. Within hours of National Foods ending its merger talks with SPC, a canned fruit specialist, CCA was believed to be planning a raid pitched at about $A2.05 a share. Before a trading halt on the morning of 10 November 2004, SPC's scrip was at $A1.78. Australia's biggest softdrink company has already acquired South Australian juice group Crusta. It is now believed to be planning further diversification into the area of wholesome food. Meanwhile, New Zealand dairy group Fonterra's takeover offer for National Foods remains alive
