Typical of the guarded comment:

Significant breakthrough in case involving high-profile Australian By 9News Staff - 7 hours ago The media is unable to report any details of the case due to a court order. A crime has been committed by a high-profile Australian with a worldwide reputation. 9NEWS is prevented reporting the identity of this person, details of their case and their crime. 9NEWS along with other members of the Australian media, are currently working to be able to bring you the full story. The major newspapers are also restricted from reporting details of this story - and many are using their front pages today to express their anger and frustration at not being able to do so. The case has highlighted the difficulty of trying to censor information in a digitally connected world. It has attracted attention from international media outlets, with details being reported online. Details of the case are being shared by members of the public online and on social media, by people who may be unaware of the potentially serious legal consequences of doing so. -------------------- "Every long-term security is nothing more than a claim on some expected future stream of cash that will be delivered into the hands of investors over time. In Reply To: mullokintyre's post @ Dec 13 2018, 12:34 PM Mick - I am not sure whether merely posting links from overseas sites would be a breach of the court order preventing publication of any information about the court decision. The linked article is NOT about the clergyman and the court decision earlier this week and seems to be okay to post as it is an ABC Australia article. _______________________________________________________ https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-13/geor...dinals/10614092 _________________________________________________________ Funny story about how a Google executive had to explain to US Senators why if you searched for images of "stupid" the front results page was mostly of images of Donald Trump. -------------------- "The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent." In Reply To: nipper's post @ Dec 13 2018, 06:43 AM nip - no, if it's true (and both the Oz and the Age are commenting about a major court decision earlier this week which they cannot discuss) it is a biggy. Not sure that it matters but I'll not post the person's name or the crime he was convicted of but it is to do with a senior clergyman and child abuse. Apparently the block is in place because there is expected to be more court action, whether it's an appeal or a new case, due in early next year. -------------------- "The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent." Clickbait?
QUOTE International websites and newspapers have published an important story relevant to all AustralÂÂians which cannot be ÂÂreported here. Some online sites also published details, but were subject to what is known as geo-blocking so that readers in Australia are unablÂÂe to view the reports. The ÂÂdetails have been widely circulated on social media, as users in Australia and around the world find and post that news online. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/m...cc07d1a1207b4a6 ..... QUOTE Tasmania Police say there is a “zero per cent chance†the pilot of a twin-engine plane that crashed in the state’s rugged wilderness this weekend survived the horror ordeal. I rather think that "horror ordeal" is quite a bit over the top. I guess that "crash" would not cut it in today's thirst for hyperbole. Cheers J |
