Senrigan Master Fund lost 14 percent in the first half, according to a performance update sent to investors last month. Without the Sundance investment, it would have generated a 5 percent return in the six months, it said in the document.

The fund lost 3 percent in June, with 2 percentage points attributable to a Sundance-related markdown on what the document described as a general sell-off in Australia before the end of the tax year, it said.

The big investors got in at higher prices and are apparently happy knowing that shortages are building.

Kasbah Resources Limited (Kasbah, ASX: KAS) is pleased to announce that Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) has completed its acquisition of a 20% interest in the Achmmach Tin Project in Morocco.
TTC has paid $16M to Kasbah since 2012 and with this final payment of $1.2M takes TTC’s total project level investment to approximately $17.2M.
With TTC earning its 20% interest in the Joint Venture (JV), the JV interests become Kasbah 75%, TTC 20% and Nittetsu Mining 5% with all Project expenditure from this point split on this basis.
Kasbah is the manager and operator of the Achmmach JV.

Hi triage, saw this snippet this morning and smiled when thinking of the elephant as TA or FA in regard to peoples views...such is the human race.

In his book, The Psychology of Science (1966), Abraham Maslow famously wrote: "I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail."

The sentiment wasn't new, but this became known as Maslow's Hammer, and it's used to describe the law of the instrument. That is, the over-reliance on a familiar tool.

Maslow's basic idea was that we tend to see the world through our own history and perspective, desperately trying to reduce all information to bits we can understand in our own frameworks.

While Maslow was pointing out the flaws of modern scientists as they tried to describe how the human brain works through physical explanations of composition and physiology, his basic premise can be traced back to a parable from India that discusses blind men and an elephant.

Each man touches the elephant in one spot — the trunk, the tail, the belly, etc. — and comes away with a different description of the creature. Every man is both right and wrong at the same time. All of them failed to see the entire elephant, and none accepted the points of view of the others.

All of this comes to mind as I read different takes on the current state of the economy and the markets.

The self-described Australian ''third force'', Fortescue, has also improved its defences after almost being derailed by a slump in the iron ore price to $US86.70 in September 2012. It has cut its debt load and added lower-cost production to pull its break-even price down from $US103 a tonne last year to an expected $US83 a tonne this year, and an expected $US73 a tonne in 2015.

But for many U.S. export projects, much of this value chain exists already. The project's core undertaking is just the liquefaction plant, a much smaller investment, and, in part because it's smaller, one that allows newer kinds of companies into the business than the government and international oil companies that have dominated the business. The LNG plant merely would provide a service to the resource owner — processing, storing and shipping the gas; it would never take ownership of the gas, avoiding the risks of commodity prices.

This is what Aussie firm LNG Ltd is doing at Lake Charles, Louisiana and is reflected in its share price since Feb as certain milestones are met and boxes ticked...still more upside to come. Bye, bye Fisherman's Landing
