Big new ( refurbished) stadium in India. Move over MCG.

$ 110m .......... that wouldn’t even be the consultants fee here in Oz.

Cheers

Which makes the Goat no more than a handy shield bowler these days.

Not a bad bowling attack from NSW, all five of their bowlers have played test cricket, some more than others.
Lyon was the main instigator of the sudden collapse. Vics lost 8/48, with Lyon taking 6/21.
This on the same ground where he took 2/201 against India.
Perhaps the Vics are not as good as the Indians.

Joe Burns 171, rest of Qld team 104. Pathetic effort, Khawaja hiding down the order these days.
NSW pegged the VICs back after a good opening.

Cheers

India heading for victory at stumps.
England 3 down already and still need another 429 runs.
Don't see how Stokes can work another miracle on this pitch.
Ashwin has six wickets so far in the match to go with his second innings century.
If he manages to get another 4 wickets , he will become the first Indian, and only the fifth player in all tests to get the 10 wicket/100 runs Double.
Was good of Australia to get him back in batting form after a lean couple of years.

Doesn’t Pat Cummins pay regular visits to the west to have a chinwag with D K Lillee ?

What struck me was how they moved the ball around.

I think it maybe because they now make the kookaburra with a machine, not by hand. I dont think they get as prominent seam as they did. Maybe the leather or treatment is not as good.

Old timer medium, fast/medium pacers like Max Walker, Gary Gilmour Bob Massie Terry Alderman used to be able to hoop it. As you say, even Thommo at express pace could bowl a nasty swinger.
Starc can bowl an exceptional inswinger but he's been awful this season.

Poms in deep deep trouble.
400 behind.
Batting last on the fourth and fifth days of a test in India has never been an easy task.
When you have to make the highest Innings of the match makes it just that little bit more difficult.
Kohli followed his 1st innings duck by scoring 62 and steering India to a position of virtual impregnability.

Hey over the weekend I watched some old footage of Thompson and Lillee. What struck me was how they moved the ball around. Thommo in particular was bowling at well in excess of 150kph and was not only bowling wides and full-tosses but absolute jaffas that were moving late. Also watched a bit of Brett Lee and it reminded me that even though he was a 160kph bowler he tended to bowl straight. I reckon only Pat Cummins is in the same league as the old masters.

The other noticeable difference was how the captains back then (mainly Chapelli I suppose) backed the bowlers with 4 or 5 in the slips cordon and a couple more close in. Very attacking cricket compared to now.
