Hi Mullokintyre

Gee the resmed is doing really nicely; going to hang on to them at this stage. Bet you were pleased to grab some more a month ago. Most of the health stocks to expensive to buy now. In fact I find most of the stocks I like are too dear to buy at present and my specie is below what I paid for it.So only what low risk purchases

Good Morning Melua,

Your posts give the impression of well researched diligence on your stocks of interest. I have just entered SYR on the potential for graphite in batteries. But I wouldn't like a dramatic crash of the share price. Had too many of those I think I will have to put a stop after your comments around 3.50 for no particular reason this price

Hi Ross, Blast from the past. You gave me my Avata many moons ago. Just decided to go back and have a dabble. See some of the old faces are still here, di, nifty balance. Do you guys have a life outside Sharescene? Just joking.

I will need to watch Foxtel for some tips. I took VOC on a broker tip and like it Gee I had Awe 10 years ago, not done much has it.

Nice talking

Hi Di, How are things going in the shaky isles? I haven't bought a share for ages but have time on my hands again, so thought I,d dabble a little. A friend gave me three tips TNG ERA and this so I did a little reading and grabbed a small parcel. Just in time.

Is there more upside or should I quit ??

Thanks for the chart Arty.

If we do get a rate drop on Cup day What direction do you think the banks will move ? Its less profit from Housing loans. But they pay less to depositors and there are lots of them at present. Thought I might buy WBC on a down day and hold until after Cup Day.

Been trading this but picked wrong om last venture and now back to only minus 2cents on price. We do need ASx to go a few more hundred points higher before we can say the downtrend has reversed.

If i can get plus20 cents I ll go out again.

Sensible comments from Chuk and Dayz. I pulled out. Does anyone really know which way we will go short term. One can really only do short term trades to try and make a few dollars and sleep at nights. I totally agree goldies in the long term are well worth having in the portfolio.

Frodo,

Yes I wish we had a market where shorting was banned. But the shorters are playing a dangerous game. Look what happened just before the close in the US last night. There was a mad scramble to cover as the Dow went positive.

Atlas up first thing this morning, so i took my 4% in a day and sold out yet again. Watching Bus news on TV this morning left me thinking a Greek Default is coming. If i am sensible probably these guys have no real idea but hey you do have to rationalise in these times and stick to some plan. Atlas does seem more volatile than a lot of other stocks that drop and rise more in Sync with the Index.

When are we ever going to burst through 5000 and stay there ? Its a traders market and s longer termers are left treading water. At least I have you lads to keep my sanity. 3.60 seems Our next port of call; expect the ship will be nearly empty if $4 tickets ever get offered.

Good morning Frodo and Captain.
I note your harmless banter has incurred a reaction. Well I for one am not bothered; maybe because Ago has made me money.
I see the Bull today likes Fortescue despite claiming Iron Ore prices may drop.

As that applies to Atlas as well, this is definately a market to watch ; no set and forget in this market. Still thinking of departing

A happy easter to all long termers rolleyes.gif

Just back from a short holidayIn Broken Hill and Mildura. Shares went north most of the time I was away So dined out rather well. Put one share on a sell this morning; but as some pundits saying Index of 5000 could be attained again in April; kept Atlas in the drawer for the time being

Thanks Rosskend

A very good point about the shorters; they do play havoc with some shares these days. I recall that period after the GFC when they were banned. Shares went up and down on merit then.

On this site the characters on Atlas AGO are swearing at the shorters at present Its a $3 -$4 I like the look of Iron Ore this year and had some for a quick trade but out at present.

My play money tied up with a couple of dogs

I have assured for you that Atlas will keep rising. I pulled out late today. Made some nice dollars, not greedy.
I fear a little market correction is on the horizon and am not holding any new buys for very long at present.

I would get out the Abacus and start some calculations on quantity and price to hold or sell

Good Luck

I still hold a small parcel of OZL too and they are making a steady climb as well. On the strength we went out and bought two new pairs of glasses each; so I can better see the market rise.

Interesting that the halt takes place when the stock falls back to 60cents I think holders should be optimistic. Feel a cap raising not likely or wise. Xstrata update or decision . Could even be a takeover.

You are brave Nifty or perhaps its astute. Having bought mine at the top of the market no more for me.

How are you finding the new slope system of gold handicaps. Its rewarding the wrong players; who have erratic scoring. At our club you need about 7 or 8 under your handicap to be competitive as inconsistent hittings smash 44 points. My 10 scores have very little standard deviation so I,m not in the hunt any more

I,m a Grays on line purchaser and feel many are good value. However my experience is that they are only for quaffing with close friends. I concur with another poster if you want a really nice red for a nice dinner party ;you are better off with a known quality name.
A lot of the Grays stuff is auctioned for a reason; excess to export requirements; cant move it; cant sell it etc etc.
You do get some bargains early in the history of a brand until all the regulars suss out its a good one.

Thanks Guys; though its not reassuring to earn so many wise ones dont really know whats next. So a lot of people just sit on their present position whatever that happened to be from back in mid January
Though Milroy is particularly interested in Kagara it does seem to be a typical representative of the resource market in particular
Hopefully soon a few buyers will emerge thinking prices are good value and we will head back up to 5000 again. Then I fear more will get out back to cash and start the cycle down again; 6% from term deposit doesnt look bad and of course there is always the yield from bank shares surely medium term they wont be lower. Hang on CBA did get into the thirties
No wonder everyone is quiet

She,s sliding back. If she slides back to $1.12- 3 Might be tempted to buy a few more. Seems the punters cant wait and feel they can do better elsewhere ; 8 months is a long time in this choppy market, could buy a trading parcel and flog them once they reached your target return. Surely they will not be that low after say April.

Seeking tax advice. They have had enough time to seek that out all ready. I fear the bastards may hold on to the money for longer than they should. Does anyone want to wait until July1 2010 Its in the next tax year then.

I,m in too if I can get to the bridge you have in mind. Storey bridge ;harbour bridge; westgate bridge; handy for me would be London bridge; thats the one in Portsea. I,ll bring a naughty little gerwurtztraminer I just picked up on greysonline for $24 a dozen. Think the other bidders thought GT stood for a car race.

Cant buy window dressing for months end. Simply a bounce back from the bear trap of Friday once it was realised the Dubai debt reality we just had to go up today . It would have happened regardless of the date

But this week is going to be hard to predict where we are by Fridays close.

All alone I think; and lots of 1 share trades going through yesterday . How do they do it / ? Certainly managed to take a couple of cents offf the price. They have cash and expectation is will give some back to shareholders next year resulting in a reasonable yearly yield for 2010.

Hi Guys,
My apologies if you know this back ground.
KZl was over $6 before the crash, they offered shares to holders at 30 cents after the crash and then again at 60 cents a few months later. So their are some people out there with nice paper profits all ready if they held on.
Perhaps this is a reminder to all of us. DO your own research
You guys have and are now happy holders. Another old adage is to buy a favourite stock when unloved . Feel we have a good chance this will rise from the ashes of GFC

Hi Nifty, How is the club swinging?
I admit to holding some of this, its oblivion or a party if it crawls off the ledge.
Been making enough lately to shout some new clubs. Bought PING And a nice Adams 3 wood with a 1.5 inch shorter shaft as I,m a pee wee. The courses down here on the Mornington Peninsular are in carpet green condition at present

Thanks for all the comments and the charts Arty. Surely its still a big mystery what was behind such a big unexpected rise Its holding in early trade today but US was up again last night. If you start drawing patterns on charts it could go to mid $3,s . I,d be out then.
All the best to holders, remember its an old ICI company probably not many of those staff left I guess but they were well run businesses ;capable management

Guys I have my takeover documents but cant understand what will exactly happen to
SGBPE . It says they will give us restitution and write advising on timing etc etc. Can we expect $100 per unit ?? They have held up at $98 -99 in recent times and we have had a couple of quarterly divvies, may even get another before the t,over occurs.
I,m just hanging on to mine, but wont be impressed if this drags on and we have to wait for the money long after SGB is taken over

Any comments appreciated I,m not sure whether to hold

Yes it could be a bit tricky at tax time trying to work out lossess or gains when one sells Pem or options or the new spinoff.
Surely the co will provide a guide.

Starting to think it might be time to start buying / selling again after a few months on the sidelines. Need some profits to buy a new set of golf clubs.

With Respect Datum, have no impact on market cap ???.
It may average out in the long run, but for short term trading; share splits of companies like CSL can well result in a higher price.
One share for say $120 , it becomes three at $40 ; but could easily go to say $43 faster than one would have gone to $129

I for one think it will rise like this but would it have if not split. Who knows.

Hi Ross,
Pleased to read you made a few sheckels in the past week or so. I stayed with my cash in the bank having offloaded 30% of my Pf in may /june. I was heavy in Awe and kept the lot , in hsight sorry i didnt sell some at $3.60 but it might be coming up to that again soon. My speccies were hammered; so when I start buying will probably stay Bchip.
Until at least one of them gets black again. Thinking of you I got out of Gdr in the 60,s perhaps I,ll look at it again

They have detected high lead levels in just a few children in Esperance. I think they closed this port in March

Hi Jay,
Got nothing more concrete to add Jay. Realise your argument re capital sounds sound; but my thought is its going to be a capital raising for something and that usually means dilution.
Changing topic do you have MMX, it crashed 2 days ago on the ASX 2-3% fall; but has gone up 25% Yesterday & today. Hope it stays there until Monday.

Hi Henrietta. The Future Fund Fascinating. I understand at present they are buying futures ; these have less effect on a particular shares price while still giving them a position in the market.
Do you think this is plausible and a reasonable strategy ?

Hi Balance, have the anchor paperwork, I have been lightening the exposure expecting the correction; so dont think i,ll go in. I didnt go in to Toro and that was a mistake but on some of the other offers I picked the right rein in or out.
Stuck with THR having moved out of PDN ok; nahh I wont buy Anchor.

Hi Nifty, belated congrats on winning the B grade at your golf club. I see IGO is dropping again today on a rising market. Any reason you are aware of? I was thinking of buying some more. Feel its a $7 stock at present value.

Good On you DULL, I applaude your keen attitude on U stox, I completely understand why they get your juices going; a few stocks have bought me some enjoyment too. I agree we look at them differently, but hey I still have my PDN, dont wont to sell just now as CG big enough for this year all ready ( even though my number of shares is very small really.)
Toying with the idea (not original), of putting a small ammount in about 6or 7 low SP U stockers; punting that one spirals, have a list of around10; one for eg;I see THR has been accumulating recently at a nice rate

Enjoy you posts smile.gif

Conservative, one way to find ex dividend and div pay out dates is to go to ASX site ; find dividends amongst Left hand side column and follow the prompts. Probably can always find such details on the OXR web site itself but must admit I,ve never tried. The ASX site will give you all the past diviies and dates for the period you nominate.

Dull, Thanks for your response.
Question on selling directed to myself.
Much more talk on PDN at the site you mentioned; so had a read. But prefer to reside here, it suits
I,m not committed to U stocks myself; prefer the other miners gold nickel zinc et al. So will try and pick a reasonable exit in due course.
Me leaving hopefully will make a motza come true in the future for your investment.

If it is not a bid; perhaps the SP will drift back over next week and traders will sell/ buy back at lower SP.
Either way interesting week ahead for not just Ox a lot of stocks could go either way.

As the shipments have been news for quite a while; I suspect the market has priced them in; perhaps at a conservative Zinc & silver price ?
I still feel fuzzy about INL for 2007 so a short term rise would be a bonus I,m not really expecting. .
I have been 100% wrong 3or 4 times in Jan so I post this for luck to holders.

It does appear to struggle when it gets near $9 after its stellar climb in 2006. Perhaps it will mark time below $9 for a few months?

Understand The Tax problem only too well Redpencil, but decided to sell some in this financial year so took todays price. It was the highest single value in a stock I had and starting to run away so its done. Never did like the all eggs in a few baskets approach. Like you, I remember when it shot back down to $12 and my wife kicked me for not selling out near its peak. Even she follows CSl price, and cant spell share

Hi Diana,
No not AwOL, just investing in different stocks in recent times. Except for the Ox and what is there to say on it that isnt all ready said.
Bought some INl to give me a reason to regularly watch something; have mostly buy and forget parcels and now you tell me its a long termer as well !! Thats fine.
My golf is good, thank you and our course has grey water but some courses are in dire straits. Its seriously dry and big article into todays Age on effects on business economy etc.
Our yearly $100 typical food parcel has gone to $113 so where they get inflation from is a joke. The drought effect on veggies prices this year will spiral. Is it similiar In NZ ?
Petrol has dropped to around a dollar, supermarkets giving up to 10 cents off on $30 docket but I,m still betting another rate rise.

Keep well

Sheesh I just got out of all speccies bar one . I have Cooper gold silver nickel uranium but no ZINC I stop losssed out of ZFX
INL is still drifting down but it is getting close to resistance??? And this Ivanhoe Mongolian Monster how long before they flog all their holding.
Cant help myself a little flutter next week . Maybe it'll pay for my wifes holiday to France and Italy ???

All the best to old ozestockers

Nice little rise today, wish I bought more in the recent lows, its going to climb steadily in 2007 despite the gloom makers for resources for the second half of the year

Happy New Year Balance,
lets not all forget that Warney and Ohh AHH seemed to take a wicket or two when the going was tough and often broke up big partnerships; yet to see if any of the others can do that; plus sides will be confident again against Australia; it,ll be tough next time not that I,m underestimating that one of the bowlers wont take enough to make us competitive; just not down right dominating

My new Years resolution; buy some more miners and perhaps even some more Ox at around $3. Also Very happy the way JBM finished the year off.
