Yes -between CWY and BIN they've got the lions share of the waste industry - and the ACCC kept letting them biggrin.gif

Nothing new though, you have the same situation in most of our industries. What's the saying - get big or get out

QUOTE
Cleanaway Waste Management chief executive Vik Bansal says the group has some of the most attractive defensive fundamentals for investors in any ASX company if the Australian economy keeps slowing.

Mr Bansal said the many long-term rubbish-collection contracts it has with local councils and the size and scale of its operations mean it is very resilient to any economic downturn.

"I think it's as defensive as you could get," he said on Thursday after the company lifted net profit after tax by 35.1 per cent to $60.8 million for the first half of 2018-19 on the back of solid organic growth and the benefits of the $671 million acquisition of smaller rival Tox Free last year.

... defensive, or duopolistic?

FWIW - Macquarie rates CWY as Outperform

QUOTE
At the investor briefing the company provided no further update on its outlook. Macquarie believes there is solid earnings visibility and clear long-term growth options, while management execution is a key ingredient.

The broker considers the stock an attractive investment proposition and the Outperform rating and $2.40 target are retained.

SP up 6.30% @ $ 1.855 - left a big gap - following news that Credit Suisse slapped a "outperform" on CWY from a previous "neutral".

Unfortunately the Share Scene system won't allow charts to be uploaded currently - have tried to contact management but no response. Might have to stop posting - can't really put up an argument on a stock forum without charts sadsmiley02.gif

Is there anyone out there able to help get in touch with management to sort out??????????

Tip faces legal action over flyaway rubbish in wild winds
QUOTE
The operator of Melbourne's largest tip faces the prospect of prosecution, after neighbouring properties were left covered in rubbish.

Cleanaway staff spent today picking up litter from properties adjoining the Ravenhall landfill, after thousands of pieces of plastic were blown away by strong winds.

CEO of Victoria's Environment Protection Authority, Nial Finegan, told 9NEWS inspectors were aghast by what they saw.

"The amount of litter beyond the boundary at the Ravenhall site is totally unacceptable", he said.

"My clear expectation of Cleanaway is that every piece of litter beyond the boundary of their fence is cleaned up. The EPA will take action to make sure that does occur."

AMENDED INCOME TAX ASSESSMENTS FOR CLEANAWAY LEAD TO REDUCED TAX EXPENSE AND CASH TAX REFUNDS
QUOTE
Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd (ASX: CWY) today advises that the Australian Taxation Office has allowed an objection to the FY13 tax return. This has resulted in amended
assessments to the FY13 to FY17 tax returns relating to depreciation deductions in respect to previous landfill acquisitions.
The impact of the amended assessments are:
1. Balance Sheet:
• An increase in the deferred tax asset on the balance sheet of
approximately $18 million.
2. Profit and Loss:
• A reduction to the FY18 tax expense of approximately $18 million.
3. Cash Flow:
• Cash tax refunds of approximately $29 million, of which $4.4 million was received in FY18 and the balance received today.

We remain confident that the Company will have sufficient franking credits to continue paying fully franked dividends to shareholders.

Cleanaway will release its results for the year ended 30 June 2018 on Wednesday 22nd August 2018.
