From the ABC Elon gives wrong signal QUOTE By adopting the "buy now, think later" strategy, they drove the company's share price up by an astonishing 11,708 per cent (in just three days). Its market value surged from about $US55 million to over $US6 billion in that very short period of time. That's what happens when your company's share price jumps (from 60 US cents to $US70.85) almost overnight. |

QUOTE The global payments merchant, which has over 300 million active users, has been buying up Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies at a rapid pace. As Cointelegraph recently reported, PayPal has bought nearly 70% of all the new Bitcoin in circulation. The supply shortage has been cited as a major reason for Bitcoin's rapid appreciation over the past month. https://cointelegraph.com/news/paypal-ceo-o...ryptocurrencies QUOTE According to a survey by the Bank for International Settlements, one in 10 central banks – representing approximately one-fifth of the world's population – expect to issue their own digital currencies within the next three years. https://newsroom.paypal-corp.com/2020-10-21...-Cryptocurrency |

Two dyslexic guys are at the top of a ski slope. One points to the slalom run and says, "Fancy zig zagging down the slalom run?" The other replies,"Zig zag? Don't you mean zag zig?" After ten minutes arguing whether slalom involved zig zagging or zag zigging, they both decide to ask someone at the bottom of the slope. They put their goggles on and down the slope they go. They reach the bottom and see a man about to make his way up the hill. "Excuse me, could you settle an argument for us? When you go down a slalom run do you zig zag or zag zig?" The guy paused for a moment and said, "I'm sorry, I can't help you. I'm a tobogganist." So the pair replied, "Fine, give us two packs of Marlboro then." |

Governments are moving towards digital currencies QUOTE Then earlier this week, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a virtual panel that discussed digital currencies and cross-border payments. Roughly 80 percent of central banks in 66 countries, including 21 advanced nations, are exploring the issuance of digital currencies, while 40 percent have become pilot programs or experiments, including the Federal Reserve, the IMF panel noted. QUOTE While going to negative interest rates in 2014, the ECB has also destroyed its bond market in just 20 years from the launch of the euro in 1999. These central banks cannot shrink their balance sheets for there is no market for the debt. The only way out is to default on all debt, and they may do this by declaring it to be perpetual with the simultaneous launch of digital currencies to prevent bank runs. The issuance of perpetual bonds would still be the reserves of central banks, with no intention of making them redeemable. The market will already assume the bonds are AAA because they will not default, while being paid interest on them like an annuity. This would allow central banks to escape the formal default which is inevitable. https://www.kitco.com/commentaries/2020-10-...s-got-gold.html |

from MFF QUOTE Fraud risks are not protecting index investors. The WireCard (Germany) fraud is reminiscent of the Swedish Match fraud in the 1920s. Its market price peaked after rising 25x or more as it was added to prestigious indices before the evidence of the fraud was accepted by market authorities. Accounting adjustments and Government payments assist story tellers in maintaining their narratives around the world. It is not only China where Government responses have again included focus on appearances of stability, short term unproductive investments and delaying/avoiding transparency. Credulity remained widespread as too few asked ‘what were they thinking?’ as 100 year Latin American bonds defaulted in 3 years causing billions of losses, and the US political convention breached all conventions. Wirecard chart $200 to .70 cents |

Hi Plastic The app wont make much difference, whoever wants to know already knows, and have known for quite a while From https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/201...w/#42bbe77e4f99 QUOTE The report claims that 89% of the world’s internet users are being actively monitored—around 3 billion people. As you’d expect when it comes to mass population monitoring and the use of technology to advance population control, China leads the way. But of the 65 countries covered in the report, there are another 39 in addition to China which “have instituted advanced social media surveillance programs.” and from 2013 https://business.time.com/2013/06/11/big-br...card-data-grab/ and from 2012 https://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/19/magazine...ing-habits.html QUOTE Whenever possible, Target assigns each shopper a unique code — known internally as the Guest ID number — that keeps tabs on everything they buy. “If you use a credit card or a coupon, or fill out a survey, or mail in a refund, or call the customer help line, or open an e-mail we’ve sent you or visit our Web site, we’ll record it and link it to your Guest ID,” Pole said. “We want to know everything we can.” |

BlackRock Heats Up Climate Change Pressure On Boards QUOTE BlackRock announced that it voted against management at 53 companies worldwide (primarily in the energy sector) for “lack of progress” on climate concerns during the 2020 proxy season, and directed another 191 companies to take faster action. Those that do not make significant progress risk BlackRock voting against management in 2021. QUOTE Arlo Kinsey, 18, told The Kansas City Star that the encounter occurred shortly after the customer, who has not yet been identified, entered the eatery without a mask during Kinsey's shift at RJ’s Bob-Be-Que Shack a week ago. Kinsey, who the paper noted in its coverage is now a “former” employee of the restaurant, said he asked the man when he first came in if he “could go get his mask or if he had a mask, and he said he had an exemption.” “So, I asked him if I could see the exemption just to make sure, and then he showed me his gun, saying [that] was his exemption,” |

JG offers this as one of the reasons the US market has done so well recently QUOTE The investor pulled up a chart showing retail investor behavior from Robinhood — the free trading app popular amongst millennials. The data showed a spike in investor accounts during COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. Elsewhere, online brokerage accounts from E-Trade and Interactive Brokers have also seen an explosion in new users during lockdowns. As it happens, the rise in new accounts coincides with the government stimulus checks sent out as part of the CARES Act. The 60-year-old bond king speculated that "maybe some of these people who are locked down are getting checks from the government maybe are throwing them in the stock market." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/jeffrey-gund...-213307360.html Roger |

I'm getting the same message from my neighbours. I have one whose son works in Germany. The company he works for had been thinking about the 'work from home model' but hadn't adopted it. The lockdown has forced them to do it and by all accounts is working out quite well. This from New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/12/nyregion...-from-home.html Then it crossed my mind, if you don't have to work in the city why live there?
