Finding that glistening stuff all over / under the place

QUOTE
the [Kambalda] region was already on the map as a world-renowned gold province and discoveries of this nature only reinforced that there was more gold waiting to be found.

"It's very encouraging because it says there's a lot of gold in the system, although this was coming from 500-metres depth," he said.

"This confirms what we already knew — that this is a very gold-rich area.

"It probably will attract more prospectors because we've got a situation where they've dragged out about $3 million worth of gold in half a day.

"The challenge is to find that on the surface [and] it's possible, although that's not very common ... you need to be very lucky."

Gold investors ‘give up hope’ as biggest short in history builds
Bloomberg News | about 12 hours ago |
QUOTE
Gold is hitting new milestones of misery.

Exchange-traded funds tracking the metal have bled assets for 13 consecutive weeks, the longest run in five years, investors have placed the biggest gold short on record, and bullion’s chief foe — a strong dollar — is extending its market grip.

Gold’s 9 percent tumble this year belies the turmoil in emerging markets and jitters over technology companies, the anchor of the U.S. equity bull market.

“The long suffering holders of ETFs have finally given up hope of the yellow metal returning to its former glories and have decided there is better protection in the dollar, the stock market and pretty much anything other than gold,” David Govett, head of precious metals at Marex Spectron, said by email. “I can only say that gold, as a safe haven, has been a massive disappointment this year.”

Hedge funds and other large speculators increased net-short bets on the precious metal in the week ending Aug. 14 to the most on record, according to data published Friday going back to 2006.

Perth Mint takes Aussie gold fund to Wall Street

QUOTE
The Perth Mint made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange overnight as the first exchange-traded fund with sovereign-backed gold. The Perth Mint Physical Gold ETF, listed as AAAU, is backed by gold held in vaults in Perth and guaranteed by the WA government. Each share represents ownership of 1/100th of an ounce of gold.

Perth Mint chief executive Richard Hayes said AAAU differed from other gold ETFs, which typically had their gold stored by bullion banks in London on an unallocated basis. He said AAAU shareholders could, at any time, redeem their shares for physical gold through a selection of bullion bars and coins offered by Perth Mint and have it delivered to their door.

The ETF is designed to track the underlying spot price for gold, with shares worth $US12 each in the case of a $US1200 an ounce gold price.
- and, incidentally, Perth Mint refines 15% of the world's gold supplies

small interruption to downswing this week should continue thru next cupla weeks the intial bounce in the Asian sesh
was not carried thru the next day so that tends to support the idea that more trader want a better price to sell withdrawing
their offer energy versus a lack of bid energy, well, just enough to make a constructive leap back into the channel

the recent low which didnt carry much reversal velocity is looking constructive so we appear to have a temporary low in place and the current move will probably take several weeks to play out to wade off extreme sentiment

keeping in mind commercials are now well soaked in longs and managers in shorts per GC COT report @ http://timingcharts.com/
