PAID PROMOTION:

Want to help ShareScene.com and get hold of a great financial information resource at the same time?

Buying a subscription to StockAnalysis.com.au via this link will give you ONE FREE MONTH subscription and will give ShareScene some affiliate income, to help keep the site running.

If you haven't heard of Stock Analysis before, be sure to read the below feedback and check out their two recent samples via this link. The feedback is extremely positive, so great to see. We hope you will consider this genuine offer.

From Danville
QUOTE
I have been a suscriber of SA and have found it extremely helpful. Particularly for those playing the oil/gas game, it it well worth the small fee and will pay for itself many times over in a very short period of time.

From Oscar Grouch
QUOTE
I think it is an excellent publication, and is especially valuable to me for the indepth analysis Strachan carries out on individual junior oil and gas companies. His methodology in evaluating their assets, cash flows, etc. are transparent and give insight into how he reached his conclusions (and ultimately whether you agree with them or not). The returns that can be made when he uncovers an undervalued gem speak for themselves.

From Pargolf
QUOTE
I have been a satisfied subscriber to SA for a couple of years now. Strachan presents a unique viewpoint on many smaller stocks that no-one else covers plus a good coverage of the oilers which I am particularly interested in. His valuation of oil explorers is easy to follow and, more importantly, realistic. The subscription is considerably lower than most of his competitors and his information is of a higher quality. I'm sold.

From Crystal
QUOTE
Been one of the flock for 18 months and no complaints from me

From Burnham
QUOTE
Relatively new subscriber largely due to references to publication and posted excerpts from a few sensible and respected posters. I receive a number of newsletters/research docs by various means this one I chose to pay for .........! Head and shoulders above the pack in my opinion.

From Maxcha
QUOTE
I echo the sentiments written about Stock Analysis. Well researched and common sense commentary. I have subscribed in the past and will be taking advantage of the SS offer. Happy investing.

From Annaliese
QUOTE
I have been with SA since its first issue and can say that it easily pays for itself in multiples....Peters financial analysis is very good. While I don't always agree with his assumptions, his full disclosure of his analysis allows you to substitute your own figures as you see fit. This for me is a powerful tool.

His best work comes when he compiles comprehensive reports on companies. I find it hard to find holes in his coverage which means when he covers a stock I am not actively following myself I can trust his report.... But to me the most important function of SA is to serve as a peer review for my own research and from that point of view SA is outstanding whether I agree or not.

I can't imagine ever not being a subscriber to SA. I recommend it to all players in the market because not only is it well written but it has the quality most hungry players look for....its a multibagger.

From Kura
QUOTE
I was a subscriber by default, in that I initially subscribed to Quentin Camerons O & G bulletin (which morphed into SA on the retirement of QC). On the changeover my initial reaction was to say "sod this" but it didn't take me long to change my opinion, and am now a dedicated fan. Second thing is that while SA concentrates on energy sector, I like the way that other non energy stocks are also included. Disc: I don't subscribe to any other publications (just SA)

From Flasherman
QUOTE
I must say that Peter Strachan, StockAnalysis' writer has picked quite a few winners and very very few duffers so I would say that following the recommendations in the report would benefit anyone.

What I like is that Peter does the fundamental analysis for you. I've noticed over the years that most people on chat boards never do any fundamental analysis. This is key to protecting your downside and understanding the value of upside.

The report is well written and easy to read and understand. I intend to roll over my subscription.

From Filament
QUOTE
Looks a good read and info and fair value. I put in my favourites for when/if i make a mover into the oil sector.

From dgrant
QUOTE
The Great SA Read.... I do look forward to my SA report each Wednesday.

I quickly see where the Jr. Oilers have been and what they are now involved in. I'm able to see the industry in thumbnail format and react or just sit back and watch it happen.

Peters' ability to interact with the players is what it's all about. After reading an issue you feel like you too have sat in the boardroom and talked to the CEO's themselves, giving you a confidence you could not have acquire reading the other mags.....

His recommendations have been educated ones, and worthy of consideration from my part. Recommended reading for at least 12 months to put you in the know. Keep up the good work Peter.

From Ridgey
QUOTE
Thats a BIG 10/4. Read the sample Stock Analysis reports and will subscribe!

NEW BEST SHARESCENE SAYING COMPETITION!

It's great to see so many witty members out there. The creativity of our group never ceases to amaze!

Due to popular demand, we have decided to open a NEW 'best ShareScene saying' competition. All entries already entered since the close of the previous competition are already included.

You can make multiple stabs at the best saying, but remember quality over quantity.

This new competition is very kindly sponsored by http://www.apparelcorp.com.au, a promotional merchandise company who was a great help in producing and distributing our ShareScene Memorabilia range of products and prizes.

Hi John,

Great to welcome you into the fold. biggrin.gif

My name is Geoffrey. I'm one of the 3 site administrators. I am mainly in charge of computer programming, selling advertising and corporate relationships, but I also keep a close eye on moderation to encourage diversity of opinion.

Matt is the primary moderation team leader, so he is the first point of call. I'm sure Matt will get you up to speed quickly. Start slow, and you will slowly absorb how we work.

I'd very much like for you to introduce yourself to us, possibly outline some of your training and experience that you bring to the team. Any personal interests or passions you want to share to help us to get to know you?

P.S. this topic is basically where we moderators chat. If something needs to be said to team, this is the place to do it.

Cheers,
Geoff

I would like to extend an invitation to any small/medium business owners on ShareScene.com to consider investing in a promotional campaign to our 13,000 strong community.

ShareScene's promotional space is some of Australia's most highly sought after internet real estate. Our members are intelligent, motivated, high net worth individuals, with high disposable income. An advertising campaign on ShareScene means you are reaching this
uniquely targeted demographic through one of Australia’s leading online community platforms.

It is my pleasure to give back to the ShareScene community as much as is possible, so I am pleased to offer a once only special offer of discounted advertising for any member of ShareScene. This only applies to those who have been members for at least 30 days, and only to small/medium businesses with 15 or less employees. The special offer only applies to campaigns starting before XXXXX, unless agreed otherwise.

ShareScene is a premium advertiser, meaning we specialise in helping businesses through the marketing process. We help you to harness the key strengths of your business with a marketing plan, design your promotional banners and text, delivery the campaign and give you ongoing feedback of performance. All campaigns include 5 hours of free graphic design and marketing advice by experienced specialists.

Campaigns on ShareScene use a proven multidimensional strategy. They include:
- banners on the top right of every page and on the ShareScene front page
- prominent red headline and text on the top left of the ShareScene front page
- a text message on the top of topic notification emails
- a text message on the top of Radio Alert posts

For further details, please view the 'Promotion on ShareScene' pdf brief.

If you would like to discuss the options or have any questions at all please feel free to contact me via email, with the address admin1@sharescene.com

I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully finding an excellent Win-Win for your business and for the ShareScene Community.

Best regards,
Geoff
admin1@sharescene.com

P.S. any income that comes from these discounted campaigns goes directly into a special "technology support and development fund" which helps keeping the ShareScene service free. By advertising on ShareScene you are helping both your business and the health of the ShareScene service.

Does anyone want to join in with me in support of the ShareScene Memorabilia range? I feel supporting your community with little gestures like purchasing a ShareScene Mug or Keyring, are in fact big gestures in disguise.

Seeing members buying ShareScene products is much appreciated by the adminstration staff and brings a smile to our face!

Suggest that other SS members show support by purchasing merchandise items. The merchandise seems to be a well kept secret" ericson

We have listened to member feedback and refreshed the ENTIRE SceneStore book list.

This means you can use the ScenePoints that you earn making posts, getting positive reputation points, and referring your friends to join, to get some of John Wiley and Wrightbooks latest finance book titles.

The ShareScene Awards program (ScenePoint Awards and the SceneStore) is all about giving back to the members who have been strong supporters of what we stand for.

It's suprisingly easy to get enough points to buy a book (just make some posts, refer some friends to ShareScene and get some positive reputation points and your there).

Over a hundred members already have enough points to buy one or more products....

Take ShareScene Radio, add a little moving picture and what do you get? ShareScene TV

You may have seen these TV feeds scattered around the web, but ShareScene TV is a revolution above and beyond anything in the past.

With a much better user interface, broker interviews and sharemarket education... ShareScene TV is more than just up to date market reports and summaries.

ShareScene pushed to be the first platform to launch the new interface and feeds (Egoli will follow shortly)

To visit ShareScene TV browse to http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showforum=62 and click on the "video" link next to a feed that interests you.

I woud LOVE to hear any feedback (in particular negative or improvements). Anything you are confused with, let me know. I am working on adding the time of day each of the feeds were released (in addition to the dates) as we speak.

Soon we will be making automatic posts throughout the community forums, that will alert people during the day (3 or 4 times) when a new video is released. So keeping up to date with SS TV will be quite similar to what people are already used to.

Your thoughts?

Hope you enjoy it!

I was thinking it might be fun if we all post some pictures of the memorabilia we bought, in its "natural habitat"..... whether that be on your desk, or on your kitchen table, on your body (in the case of the shirt), or maybe even opening a nice bottle of wine.

Go ahead and take a photo of your community memorabilia, post it as an attachment in this topic, and show off your very own little piece of ShareScene.

My photos are coming soon!

Now where's my camera!

I went for a waterway cruise along near Surfers Paridise, past seaworld and through the spit. The collection of boats there was simply amazing (and dont get me started on the houses!). Really does amaze.

Yeah, LuxMarine.com.au promoted on ShareScene a while back. Seems to be a good way to find a boat etc.

Cheers,
Geoff

ericson, you are completely correct that the community memorabilia ( visit http://www.apparelcorp.com.au/sharescene ) is a quite well kept secret. ph34r.gif

We have been softly promoting the memorabilia store via a few of the promotional placements on our site and via the front page, but not pushing it too hard.

The main reason why we havn't been going all out, is we are really hoping that members who had bought a product or even just visited the store and liked how it looked, would mention to their friends in the community... and reccomend by word of mouth they should join in the fun and grab one too.

So far, most of the sales have come from either this word of mouth topic or from personal reccomendations... which is GREAT to see.

Thanks to everyone who has posted their very positive feedback on the community memorabilia. So great to see, and it brings me great pleasure to see you enjoying them and proud of ShareScene!

So I invite you all to spread the word about the ShareScene memorabilia! If you like what you see at the memorabilia store http://www.apparelcorp.com.au/sharescene and want to help out ShareScene, spread the word! wub.gif

Can anyone reccomend any really nice spots to just cruise around and enjoy the sunset, either in QLD or SA?

Does anyone here own or have owned a jetski? What are some of the questions I should ask myself before buying them?

I dont want anything too powerful, just entry range, with nothing too fancy. Any preferences for brands or models for a simple standard jetski to have some fun on?

Cheers!

Hey all.... since we are running some ads for http://www.luxmarine.com.au/ at the moment, thought it would be fun to join in and see if there are any other boat enthusiasts out there.

I've only ever really gone out in tinnies, but I love it... one of the most relaxing things being on the water.

Its a good excuse to see the coastline and enjoy the beaches don't you think?

Thinking of getting a jetski too, but maybe thats more of a pipe dream.

Anyone here own a boat? Got any photos to share?

Good on ya Ericson. hypocrite.gif

I must say I'm quite disapointed that only a few enthusiastic members have bought a memorabilia product so far. Months back we had hundreds of survey participants shouting strongly that they would love to grab a ShareScene mug, pocket knife, shirt etc in support and celebration of our community. I really hope they will still support the project now that we have made the products.

Come on guys and girls! Visit http://www.apparelcorp.com.au/sharescene/ and check out what we have to offer.

We have invested quite a bit of money into the production of a few hundred of these items and it would be a real pitty to just have them sitting there not being used, not to mention a financial hit.

Now is the time to show your support for ShareScene if ever! wub.gif

Moderation permissions are a bit tighter on the by share code forum....

Im not sure what happened... but somehow the topic got moved to that forum, which made it difficult to merge. Something might have gone wrong with arthurs merge...

I have merged it into the normal RRS topic, so all is well.

Are any people here subscribed to both the oil and gas weekly and the Stock Analysis newsletter?

How do they compare? In what ways are they similar? What are the pros and cons of each?

Would really appreciate anyone's feedback.

You can view some samples of Stock Analysis (no signup required) via this sharescene exclusive link to refresh your memory.

There is also a topic about member feedback on S.A. http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=8429

Thoughts anyone?

Macquarie allows you to set GSLs as close as 1% to the last traded price. This is quite different from many others that set a minimum of around 5% as you say.

http://www.macquariecfd.com.au/emg/cfd/cfd...tm?source=scene

Check it out yourself.

The comission rate changes depending on how close you set the GSL.

You can make the GSL trail below the price with no additional charges, which locks in profits.

I have been hearing positive comments about

Macquarie CFD http://www.macquariecfd.com.au/emg/cfd/cfd...tm?source=scene

and

First Prudential Markets http://www.fpmarkets.com.au/

They are very similar, but Macq has guarenteed stop losses, and potentially cheaper brokerage if you trade actively. FPM has a slightly more powerful trading platform.

Of course do your own research.

http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?amp;sh...ndpost&p=366392

Lone wolf has reported this post twice... saying ouisa has been slanderous in the past, etc etc.

Sounds to me like lonewolf has a personal vendetta against ouisa.

Does anyone have a problem with the post? Its very detailed, and possibly inaccurate (Im not sure) but i dont see major issues with it.

A little off the topic but...

One of the major advantages of Macquarie CFDs over some of its closest competitors is its support for Mac and Mac browsers.

I'm not sure if you are interested in the CFD instrument for share trading, but it may be worth checking out.

Just thought I'd make this thread aware of promotion ShareScene is doing for a new CFD broker, Macquarie CFDs.

DMA with a platform similar to webIRESS with guarenteed stop losses.

http://www.macquariecfd.com.au/emg/cfd/cfd...tm?source=scene

For more info. They are definitely worth checking out.

I mirror your opinions... there are many more insights to be gleaned from a voice interview direct from the horses mouth than an official press release.

There is so much other cool stuff in ShareScene radio, like AGMs, info on the directors of companies, their address etc, ex div dates, results dates and a bunch more.

I also love the calendar feature.

Check it out on http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=radio

UPDATE: everyone has been given points for their posts over the last month. From now on your points for making post will be be awarded weekly.

--------

You're very welcome Moosey.

The ShareScene Awards program (ScenePoints and SceneStore) is all about giving back to the members who have been strong supporters of what we stand for.

It's suprisingly easy to get enough points to buy a book (just make some posts, refer some friends to ShareScene and get some positive reputation points and your there).

Something like a hundred members already have enough points to buy one or more products....

Before we launch the program officially, here are some links.

Thanks pukin,

I think ShareScene Radio is a simply fantastic feature. These interviews are not avaliable anywhere else other than this radio network, so you are getting exlusive information that usually is only avaliable for institutional styled investors.

To hear direct from CEOs and MDs is a very powerful to get the whole story beyond the ASX announcements and press releases.

http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=radio is the link (or use the RADIO link top-centre of every page).

Thanks Skorpian. We will continue to look into this, but as with all good things they might take time (and some funding).

ShareScene is great, but can be even better, and its always good to aim bigger and better.

Would love to hear what else is important to you all out there? Where would you say we should be focussing our efforts and new feature improvements?

Are we advertising the right products? Are you interested in the offers? Can you reccommend other types of products we should be promoting?

Great feedback Skorpian. This is something I would personally support also.

I am all for the community reviewing software, books, newsletters, etc and discussing the points, as well as an information source on what works well and what doesn't.

If you ever have any questions on metastock, send them to the Ask Jim forum (on ShareScene).

We also promote Stator Portfolio analysis software, which in my personal opinion is exceptional.

I will see what I can do to step up the speed in this respect.

What sort of software are we talking about here? What would you liked reviewed?

Charting? Fundamental scanning? Portfolio analysis software?

Anything else I'm missing?

They say anything is possible with the right motivation, drive and support. I have had the honor and pleasure of working with a great business team to make ShareScene what it is today.

Even more so, this topic is a testament to the SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY. Like adder says, it is the posters that makes this site the highest quality of its kind.

I wonder if anyone wishes to comment on the general direction ShareScene is heading, looking into the future. I refer in particular to the new features we are adding to the site.

Which of these features were a good choice? Which in retrospect do you feel were less useful? What types of features would you like to see in the future?

Do you what ShareScene to add more features to the site (like below), or to spend more money on improving the general technology of the discussion forums.

Your comments are important, so lets here it!

Some new features added to ShareScene in the last 6 months

- ShareScene Radio (audio interviews with CEOs talking about their company operations and briefing on results)

- ShareScene Floats (information database on upcoming IPOs)

- ShareScene Book Club (discussion about new investment books, with free books being given out to those enthusiastic to review and encourage intelligent educational discussion)

- ShareScene Memorabilia (fun community pride products, such as ShareScene mugs, shirts, pocket knives, mouse mats etc)

- Special Guest Forums (authors and educators being avaliable to chat and answer questions with members, like Jim Berg, Louise Bedford and Matt Kirk)

- ShareScene Tipping Competition (community share tip competition, with $6000+ worth of prizes each round).

The lower box lists a range of upcoming dates.

You can also search by a particular company code or event type (use the box top right of the page).

Is this useful? We certainly hope so!

....almost brings a tear to my eye to see the member tally tip over into 5 digits.

It is with great honor and pride that I announce that together our community has reached 10,000 ACTIVE MEMBERS!

To celebrate, we have launched a range of ShareScene Memorabilia (see bottom of post for more details) and would love you to consider getting one of these great items for yourself.

We have achieved this great achievement together as it is YOU the members who have given ShareScene the thumbs up, actively supported and built the community, and encouraged all your friends and colleagues to join. In ShareScene's first month we went from 0 to 700 members, fueled purely by the word of mouth enthusiasm of members like you. ShareScene's membership continues to grow consistently and rapidly, and the passion for ShareScene is stronger than ever.

To me this says ShareScene is doing something right, and this makes me very proud and is extremely rewarding.

As ShareScene grows, we are able to introduce new powerful features such as ShareScene Floats, ShareScene Radio and the special guest forums with educators like Jim Berg, Louise Bedford, Peter Hegarty and Matt Kirk. We introduced the ShareScene Book Club and distribute great investment books free to our members. We have run countless Tipping Competitions with prizes exceeding $6000 a round.

These are all nice achievements, but the most special to me is seeing members happy. I have recently had the pleasure of meeting a number of members face to face. Seeing how enthusiastically ShareScene members talk about this website as a passion and love, makes the 3000+ hours I personally have put into its success more than worth it.

ShareScene.com is much more than just a great information resource. For many, ShareScene.com is a community – a network of friends and colleagues working together with shared goals in mind.

I want to hear from all you out there "What Makes ShareScene Special To You?". How has ShareScene helped you, or guided you on your path? What features do you love? Which do you think we should continue to develop? What are we doing well?

Your support and encouragement of ShareScene (as well as our promotional sponsors) will see ShareScene reach 20,000 before long.

Now for the reason for this announcement..... the ShareScene Memorabilia Product Range.

A few months back, some members expressed they would love to buy some ShareScene branded products, as a token of their enthusiasm and thanks towards the community.

In response, ShareScene.com has teamed up with Apparel Corporation Pty Ltd to bring you a range of top quality ShareScene Memorabilia (as decided by the community in a survey).

Not only are these products fun and practical, but they are a sign of your appreciation for the thousands of hours our administrators and moderators dedicate into making the community as it is today.

It would mean a lot to us if you would visit the ShareScene Memorabilia Store and purchase a product that you can proudly show to friends and family.

- Sleek ShareScene Mouse Mat
- Large ShareScene Deluxe Mug
- Executive Decision Maker
- Elite Check ShareScene Polo Shirt
- Metal ShareScene Keyring
- ShareScene Pocket Knife (my favorite)

Click to Visit the ShareScene Memorabilia Store and view pictures and more details on the products avaliable

Best wishes and kind regards to the entire community!

Thanks for your PM James (jbeaty)

I am thrilled that you went the whole hog and bought the investor kit (all the products in one, at discount).

Really hope the members are as enthusiastic as you.

We have taken a bit of a risk producing the number of products required and really need them to sell, but I'm confident we will be fine.

To all valued moderators...

It might not seem like much, but this is quite a special moment for me.

http://www.apparelcorp.com.au/sharescene/

For all of us and many other members, ShareScene is not just a website but it is a something truely special. A place to meet, to share to learn....

Over the last few months I've been organising some special ShareScene memorabilia products, and finally after a lot more work than expected, we are ready to launch.

I wanted to give you all a special chance to be the FIRST members to buy a product from the memorabilia store.

No pressure to buy, but it would mean so much to me to have you all drinking out of a sharescene mug or using a sharescene mousepad. It reminds us of the team we are part of.

Other products include a really cool fun ShareScene executive decision maker that gets a lot of attention in my office, a ShareScene shirt (very high quality, I love mine), My favorite two products are the ShareScene keyring and best of all is the pocket knife.

I bought myself the whole investor pack, which combines them all together at a discount, but up to you what you want to get.

Please visit http://www.apparelcorp.com.au/sharescene/ and have a look for yourself.

Hope you love these little trinkets as much as I graduated.gif

a note to all TEE followers...

you may have noticed that in the past, if you searched for TEE via the 'search share code' box (top right of every page) it came up with an error.

We have identified the cause of this error and fixed it.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

This thread probably isnt the best place to discuss CFD trading strategies (still, feel free to comment if you wish Peter).

Chookboy, please repost your question on Eva Diaz "Real Traders" topic (CFD trading book).

Hi All!

I bet you are all very curious to see how many points everyone else has.

Last night ShareScene finished development of the upgraded member list.

To do so, click the word 'members' found top left of the screen (under the ShareScene logo).

--------------------

You will also see the number of reputation points each member has. You can give others reputation points too, by clicking the 'rate this post +' button, found top right of every post.

-----

You can sort based on scenepoints or reputations aswell, using the buttons at the bottom of the member list page.

Hope you enjoy this new feature!

Thaks livas. We are in the early stages of launch (95% of members dont know about it yet), and am still assessing the best way to place links to the relevant ScenePoint related pages around the site.

At the moment, its a little confusing. For the time being

Account Statement (how many points do I have?): http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=sc...ount_statements

How Can I Earn More Points?: http://scenepoints.sharescene.com

What Things Can I Buy At The SceneStore: http://scenestore.sharescene.com

Over the next few days you will see more links on the home page and other relevant pages.

Thanks for baring with us in the mean time.

The feedback on the launch of our new ScenePoints System has been very positive. This is fantastic to see, and makes the programming team who put together the system (over 150 man hours) very proud.

Please keep the feedback coming, as we want to make this system work the very best it can for you.

---------

(ANNOUNCEMENT REPOSTED)

-----------------------

SUMMARY:

• We are launching ShareScene's new ScenePoints awards program.
• Earn ‘ScenePoints’ by posting, referring members and getting positive reputations.
• Spend your points at our ‘SceneStore’.
• You have already been credited points retrospectively.

• Learn more at http://scenepoints.sharescene.com

Dear ShareScene.com Members

To thank our valued members for their contribution to the ShareScene community we are launching the ScenePoints Award Program.

This program rewards you for contributing to the community by awarding your ScenePoints for:

(1) Posting (only a relatively small reward, to ensure quality over quantity).

(2) Gaining positive reputation ratings from your fellow members. (see http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=8172 to learn about the reputation system)

(3) Referring new members to the exchange either via email or referral cards.

You can then spend your points at the SceneStore, where you can purchase finance related products. Visit http://scenestore.sharescene.com

You have already been credited points retrospectively for your contributions to ShareScene. Check your account statement now to see your balance here http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=sc...ount_statements

Start referring members via email by visiting http://sharescene.com/index.php?&act=referafriend

You can even import your contacts from your Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo address book and send multiple referrals at once.

You are granted ScenePoints for every email you send, then more points for even friend who visits ShareSecne.com from your referral and then even more points if they join!

If email referrals aren’t your thing, then order a pack of ShareScene.com referral cards, write your username on them, and start handing them out to friends. Order your first pack here: http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=requestcards

When your friends visit ShareScene and join they are prompted to enter their referrers username and you are credited with ScenePoints.

To learn all about the exciting new ScenePoints awards program please visit
http://scenepoints.sharescene.com

Enjoy the rewards!

Regards

All reputation points are visable to all members (even the poster in question).

ShareScene is a much more mature, professional and friendly community than many others. We have not had too much of an issue with arguements over reputation points, and dont expect this to be the case in the future.

The system is more focussed on the positive than the negative, in either case.

Cheers,
Geoff
p.s. as for spell check, this isnt on the boards. Best to write your posts in word and copy paste them over.

Hi Terry, Thanks for your further questions.

The reputation rankings are visible to all via the address provided http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=rep&CODE=totals

We dont scrutinise every reputation made (there are only so many hours in each day) however we do assess and monitor the system on a global scale to ensure its not being taken advantage of or mis-used.

A member can't rate his own posts, and there are some other limits to prevent mis-use.

Some oneliners are useful. Some are not. If you really feel a member is posting too many un-useful posts, you can give a negative reputation point. However, we reccommend only doing so when you feel strongly on the matter.

Hope that clears some things up for you.

Geoff

With the launch of the ScenePoints Award System launched today (see http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=8169), a few members may be asking what is the reputation system and how does it work.

On ShareScene, when a member reads another post that they feel is of an exceptional quality and deserves rewarding, they can give the poster a positive "reputation" award. They do this by pressing the "rate this post +" button, found top right of every post. Have a look at the top right of this post for an example.

To view the current list of all reputation points awarded, visit http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?act=rep&CODE=totals

Normally, you access this link via the 'members' link, top left of every page on ShareScene (on the grey bar).

Hope this explains most of the basics to those interested.

Geoff

Exchanging your points for cash discounts on products is something that we are already arranging.

E.g. Spend 1000 points and get a 50% discount on XYZ software package.

--------------

However, its important to realise is actually very easy to earn points. All you need to do is make a few exceptional posts and get some reputations points and you are there.

I do understand the point you bring up though, so thankyou for sharing that.

Just to confirm, At this stage the ScenePoints system is an AWARDS system, where you are rewarded for positive behaviour.

At this current stage, there are no points removed for a NEGATIVE reputation. This is however a posibility, but at this stage it was agreed not to be implemented.

In the future (with the support of the moderation, admins, and community input) we may introduce some fines or removal of points for poor community spirit behaviour, but at this stage, we do not feel this is necessary.

---------

Note: our moderation team works tirelessly to ensure the quality of posts. We have a proven system that educates and prevents poor quality behaviour. At this stage, we feel this is enough to punnish negative behaviour.

At ShareScene we are positive focussed, and we rather promote and encourage positive behaviour than punnish negative. Once a positive example is set (as is today) many just follow in example.

RE the calculation of retrospective points (I.E. how is my past point balance calculated)

The way we calculate retrospective points (for everyone's past activity) is actually a little more complicated than you may think. It is actually quite a complicated mathematical formula designed with the following ethos in mind:

1) We have been as generous as we can without blowing ShareScene's bank, on rewarding past activity. We still want to save inventory to reward for future performance of members.

2) We did not want to discriminate against members who have only been part of ShareScene for 6 months or so (vs the full 3 years) Thus we involved an average post per day calculation into the mix, as well as some other scaled calculations.

3) Past reputation awards were awarded a smaller amount than the current 400 points. This is to encourage the use of this valuable "community ranking" feature (as well as to not blow our bank again).

Hope this makes sense in general. We have worked hard to deveolop a retrospective system that is fair, and am please with how it is working.

Cheers,
Geoff

There are countless ShareScene members who have dedicated much of their time and experience.... given more than they have asked for in return, and we at ShareScene felt they deserved recognition and reward.

The ScenePoints award system (scroll down to bottom of topic of more info) also encourages people to put in that little extra to make our community even more special.

Everyone can earn enough points to buy a product from the SceneStore quite easily. It just takes a little motivation and some enthusiasm.

Simply get 10 friends to join ShareScene and you have a book.

Get 10 positive reputation awards (from other members who enjoyed your posts) and you will have enough points to buy a portfolio management software.

Click this link http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=340043 to read the announcement about the ScenePoints award program.

Congratulations to all those who have enough points already to buy a product. You deserve it!

There is a known bug where downloading attachements in the latest version of firefox (1.5) and possibly the latest mac browser.

It should all work fine in MS Internet Explorer.

We apologise for this, and although we have spend many hours trying to fix this problem, we are still working to find the solution.

Hi All,

I am looking for three members who are interested in reading and reviewing the following book.

How To Give Your Kids $1 Million Each
by Ashley Ormond, thinking about your kids future
http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7993

For more information, read the below.
------------

The Review Team is a select group of ShareScene members who will be sent free new release finance/investment books to be reviewed and discussed in the book club.

Review Team members do not need to be expert in investment topics but should demonstrate an ability to develop clear in-depth analysis and encourage intelligent discussion.

Being part of the Review Team should be an easy, enjoyable and stress free experience at all times. As a ShareScene reviewer you are completely in control of the intensity of this commitment. You have flexibility to choose the number of books you accept to take on to review. As well as posting their own thoughts, reviewers are expected to be open to answer relevant questions and develop discussions with other ShareScene members.

Once you prove yourself as a book reviewer, you may be offered for review other valuable investment related products including software, seminars, newsletters subscriptions etc often worth $1000+.

If you would like to apply to become a member of the review team send me a introductory letter outlining your motivations for wanting to join the team.

Becoming a reviewer isn't for everyone but we will asses all applications fairly.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing from those interested.

Geoff

Dont think thats very feasible Danville...

fraught with errors, manipulation... and would actually take more time and energy to monitor for inaccuracies and fix up reported problems....

If we are going to come up with a solution, it needs to be automated.

I am more keen on the idea to allow members to OPT IN... and make a STRONG BUY, BUY, HOLD, SELL, STRONG SELL opinion known attached at the same time as their post.

...and IF they do OPT IN to make this reccomendation, it automatically tracks their performance, until they OPT to mark the company down as a SELL.

In other words, it would take what ShareScene has done with the tipping competition, and make it seamless integrated into the regular posting activities of members.

-------------

for example..... MEMBER.A makes a positive post in topic XYZ and feels strong enough to mark it as a STRONG BUY, a system will look at the price on that date... and record it.

Then, when the member feels their opinion has changed, they need to make another post saying "SELL" and the + or - % change is recorded.

This would give ShareScene the ability to make members accountable for their opinions....

for example, if a member is extremely positive in their written opinions, but dont have the share marked down as a BUY or a HOLD... something may be up.

This is an idea I have been playing around with for over a year, but it takes considerable funding to make it possible (in terms of DATA costs).

If a member out there is able to give ShareScene access to market data at a reduced rate, it should be very possible.

What do you think of this idea?

Hmm.... a very interesting idea... I will have a think about this further.

I dont know if an end of day shareprice alone paints a complete picture. There can be intraday swings of 30% that arent described by end of day date.

In a perfect world we would have an instant quote the time the post was made.

The cost of share price data is quite high these days.

hmm....

All good points....

I do agree that it would be uncomfortable and strange not to share your username once you get talking to someone.

I am starting to agree that more informal, causual events are a good way to start. Here, partners would be very welcome to come along, and the topics of coversation can be whatever members wish.

Later on, we could have the occasional more formal get together with a guest speaker, but still keep up the regular informal get togethers.

I personally am not keen on the segregating into sectors or interests idea. I think power in relationships comes when you mix people of different backgrounds together. Long term, we might be able to do this, but short term probably not. I am eager to hear from other members if they think this is a good idea in general.

HAhah.. thanks for your input Kathy.

I understand there is an issue of lost annonomity, that may make people nervous.

What does everyone think about the idea, that members should not feel obliged (when asked) to disclose their username online.

If no participant of a face to face meeting feels obliged to share their username, then hopefully they will feel more comfortable in taking part.

Is the problem of loss of annonomity a problem for others? Are people worried about being judged based on their online personality?

If this is a problem we should talk about it and try to work out some solutions and agreements to overcome that particular hurdle.

Cheers all,
Geoff

Hi Skorpian,

I appreciate that you wouldn't want to be stuck in a situation where you can't find other investors with things in common to talk about....

However I just dont see that happening.

I feel any investor has experiences, beliefs, strategies etc etc that can be shared and discussed no matter what particular stocks you follow.

I picture ShareScene Meetings to be more of a mingle where you float around a crowd, rather than a formal "lets discuss share XYZ for 20 minutes now" lecture.

The idea of having themes is still VALID... but I would suggest until we get a regular following for these meetings, it may be a bad idea to make the meetings too specific.

We have $6175 worth of prizes for the top 20 places.... but now I'm thinking maybe I should have included a booby prize aswell!

Great to see you all enthusiastic about the competition. We put alot of effort into the organisation of the comp, so its fantastic to see you all enjoying it!

Hopefully we will do some EXTREME analysis on the tips VS performance and see if we find any patterns again.

Interesting times ahead!

I am aware of the difficulties people not in CBDs might experience with these get togethers, and am eager to try to find solutions for these members.

With 9000 members there's a very good chance there is another ShareScene member in your town or nearby to your closest regional centre.

There are a good proportion of ShareScene members who do live in rural areas, as successful farmers who trade almost full time to leverage their income and balance risk.

Once we get the capital cities going, I dont see any reason why other regional centres couldn't be started aswell.

How does that sound to you Metal?

I know two separate groups young entrepreneurs who have tried to do something similar to this but with university text books.

In short, its not commercially viable to set up a book trading/auction payment system. Technically is hard... logistically its even harder.

HOWEVER........ if you visit http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7980 you will see discussion about FACE TO FACE meetings.

Face to face meetings could be a good place to try to sell / trade books... but it would most likely be informal (member to member) and not involve ShareScene officially.

We arent in the business of buying and selling old books, but im sure you will find other members out there who might be interested at face to face meetings.

Geoff

Starting small and simple may be the strategy we will take to build up a regular followship before we put more funding into making the events more "special" in the future.

Danville... what kinds of locations would you think would work the best? Maybe a nice classy old style pub?

I personally don't mind the idea of a really informal ShareScene golfing day, or something similar?

What other sports / events would people be interested in?

Maybe as simple as a movie in a CBD movie theatre, and members can split off after that do whatever they want in their own small (or big?) groups.

I still like the idea of larger more organised special ShareScene face to face events... but a mix of informal events like meet and greets at pubs on a friday night or a golf day once a month could work really well.

Again, all these ideas require the FULL support of members.

Is there anyone working in hospitality that could offer ShareScene free use of a room at a hotel / pub? If so please contact us.

Keep the ideas coming...

In the past members have asked for more FACE TO FACE interaction between ShareScene members. Although we are ShareScene.com, our community doesn't have to be completely internet based.

If the support is there from the community, we could hold ShareScene face to face get-togethers in capital cities and large regional centres....

Visit the topic to discuss face to face meetings here http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7980 and make your opinions known.

Many thanks,

Thanks Dr Arthur for your support RE Adelaide.

I'd like to have a bit more discussion about face to face meetings.......

In the past members have asked for more FACE TO FACE interaction between ShareScene members. Although we are ShareScene.com, our community doesn't have to be completely internet based.

If the support is there from the community, we could hold ShareScene face to face get-togethers in capital cities and large regional centres.... maybe limited to 20 or members at one location at a time.

Would you be interested? If so, would you be willing to pay $50 or so door charge to cover the cost of renting the location, wine, nibbles etc...... or would you prefer it to be funded fully by a sponsor (may not be possible).

How would you like a night like this to be run. At the moment the location we have sourced in Melbourne is a book store specifically for investors (full of share trading books, investment software etc).

I would suggest it would run something like this

45 minute chit chat mingle, members talking to other members casually...
20 minute speach/presentation by an author / investment educator about a relevant topic
45 minute chit chat etc, more wine / champagne / nibbles

And afterwards members could move on to another location, maybe a nice pub?

It would probably be semi-formal, halfway between a cocktails evening and a traders club breakfast.

Anyone with any experience in running events like this please speak up, as to make an event like this work, we will need the support of members.

Cheers,
Geoff

To the list of possible new ideas (in my previous post below) let me add

6) face to face get togethers for ShareScene members in capital cities (Melbourne intially as a test)

Who would be willing to support this? May involve a small door fee ($50 or so to cover costs).

All...

I would like to open this topic up a little bit to discuss what type of new features you would like to see on ShareScene.

Which on this list make you go YEAH, and which make you go NAH and why.

1) Company charts (so you can see at a glace how the share is going)

2) Company intro information (brief overview of what the company is + what its doing)

3) More fast paced / interactive / dynamic tipping competition, e.g. new tips submitted once a week rather than once a month.

4) more interaction with authors / investment educators on ShareScene (e.g. Louise Bedford)

5) can you suggest anything else? We would LOVE to hear it.

Keep in mind, the advertising sold on ShareScene just keeps the site afloat. To fund such new features, we need to work to seek aditional funding, so whatever we develop we want to do it right and get great support from our members.

Cheers and thanks to everyone for their support,
Geoff

Thanks Ronin and others,

I'm glad you find our system reasonably easy to use. It does have a bit of a steep learning curve the first day (especially if you've never used forums before) but we are working to make it more intuititve and provide more introductory help.

We have exciting plans for the next 1,000 days and beyond and its great to have you all part of them!

Cheers,
Geoff

I hope you noticed my thanks to the moderation team in this topic http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7980

It wasnt just a random comment, I really meant it.

P.S. It is a tricky situation when so many moderators have strong opinions about a certain stock. I think achieving as balanced a range of opinions on the posts is important. It promotes further discussion and will help in finding the eventual "truth" as early as possible.

Thanks everyone... its great to have so many intelligent, loyal, informed and interesting members like you all that makes our community strong. wub.gif

icon13.gif Join with us in celebration of ShareScene's 1000th day in operation.

After 1,000 days of operation ShareScene.com still stands by its founding principles. The ShareScene Community is still Australia's best for friendly intelligent discussion of the Australian share market and other investment topics.

Our moderation team works day and night to promote a positive productive environment where personal attacks on other members are not acceptable. Our community expects claims in posts to be backed up by evidence, and ostracises those who simply ramp. Our administrators work hard to find and ban those who attempt to mislead others through the use multiple user accounts. All over, we promote clear analysis, concise research and friendly debate.

As a result, ShareScene is now known as Australia's most friendly and best quality share market discussion community. We are proud of this and will continue to work hard to make ShareScene the very best it can be for you. wub.gif

ShareScene has also recently launched a number of exciting features such as:
* ShareScene Radio - getting your questions answered by interviewing CEOs
* ShareScene Float Info - a database of upcoming IPOs essential details
* ShareScene Book Club - chat with famous investment authors and win their books

We are working on a range of other feature and look forward to launching them in the coming months.

I would personally like to take this opportunity to THANK ALL members who have contributed to the ShareScene community. Particular mention also goes to our hard working moderation team, the administrators who work tirelessly 7 hours+ a day, and our promotional sponsors who fund the full time and part time staff required to run this site.

Please join in with me and post a congratulations to ShareScene!

You are absolutely right... this is an issue everywhere on ShareScene.

For every member that makes 1 post... there are 20 other members who read the post, but dont contribute anything themselves. Of course it is their right to prefer to keep silent, but the book club desparately needs more posters and more discussion.

ShareScene has invested in over 100 books to fund the Book Club review project, and this will ensure contributions. But we really need the support of ALL members to make something like this happen.

If two heads are better than one.... how about 9,000 all working together with a common purpose, a shared goal. That is the power of ShareScene.

So visit the ShareScene Book Club everyone and start posting!

I just had an idea I wanted to share with you.... following on from cdchi1's suggestion of a rating system...

What would you think of having some sort of "database" of current and classic investment book titles.... where members can vote on what aspects were strong, what aspects were weak, give overall ratings, classify what topics where included etc etc.

For example, there could be a range of questions. I would fill in some of the facts and all members could work together fill it in to get a wide opinion about the books.

- when published
- num of pages
- suits what trading experience level?
- requires a mathematical mind?
- covers aspects of emotions in trading?
- etc etc

If there is enough support for this idea, I will try to get some funding from a sponsor to pay for its development. Hopefully it will be possible.

Cheers,
Geoff

QUOTE
this is where the 'sharescene' review idea has merit in that it can help separate the wheat from the chaff

You are absolute right on this point (as well as many others). The ShareScene Book Club is NOT about blindly promoting books.

It is about discussing their merits (good and bad), chatting about the educational content, learning a bit along the way, and in general helping to "sort out the wheat from the chaff" as you say.

There are so many books out there available at the moment. The Book Club is all about discussing which are good, which are great, and which are not worth the bother.

This is why we need book club reviewers (see http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=325510 for more info if you are interested) to give a wide range of opinions on the books. We also invite ALL members to join in the discussion and combine our decision making power together.

The rating scale idea is a very good idea... I will look into the best way to do this technically.

I strongly agree that we need to have the broadest mix possible. Some more classics and some more fundamental and market psychology books are definitely a good idea. The wheels are in motion on this front.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.

Still need more book reviewers (see http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=325510 for more info if you are interested).

Keep the feedback coming.... we want the Book Club to be the best it can be for as many people as possible.

Hi all....

We are discussing the best way to run ShareScene Book Club to get it more active and more content and discussion...... over here http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=325510

Also taking any applications for members who are interested in reviewing and discussing books for the book club (i.e. taking an active role in supporting intelligent discussion). Reviewers get any book the post on for free, so might interest a few of you.

Visit http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showto...ndpost&p=325510 for more information.

I agree with Bazza about the important role books and education play.

I also agree with previous comments that there are too many technical charting books around, and possibly not broad enough a spectrum.

Would it be a good strategy (in your opinion) to try to get as wide a mix as possible in the book club as possible.

We have a book lined up specifically about Oil, which is quite different from all the others. Brian Tracy's financial goal setting book is great. And the family trust book focusses on a different aspect of trading.

Do you encourage having as wide a selection of books in the Book Club as possible?

P.S. We need 2 more members interested in reviewing free investment books for the book club (see first post in topic for more info)

....or visit the ShareScene Book Club yourself.

I have added a poll on request.

As an aside I agree with Danville regarding trading during school hours etc. Good point. I think this book has some strong merits.. good to see some discussion happening.

Make sure you check out the other book club topics as well (click on the book club logo to go to the book club forum page).

If you like reading and discussing Finance/Investment books ShareScene needs your help....

The ShareScene Book Club has been a great success for those who have participated so far...... however I and many others have expressed concern about how quiet the book club forum is currently.

Those who have visited and posted in the Book Club forum have shared some extremely valuable analysis and learning, supported by our guest authors including Louise Bedford, Jim Berg, Peter Hegarty and more.

But the Book Club has so much more potential and we hope to make this vision become a reality.

(SEE this topic for more information on what the book club is all about).

-----------------

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP biggrin.gif

The book club has been too quiet recently, and we need YOUR suport in keeping it active. You can do this in one of two ways.....

If you would like to help but don't have a lot of time to spare it would be great for you to visit the Book Club Forum, choose a topic that interests you and make a quick post on anything being discussed in that topic. You don't need to have read the book to make a post. Simply jump in and make a post about the general topic of the book.

---------------

and for those who are serious about helping out
JOIN THE BOOK CLUB REVIEW TEAM king.gif

ShareScene is looking for members who have some free time (around 1 hour a week flexible commitment) and an enthusiasm for reading and discussing investment books with other members.

Cheers,
Geoff

greggy, this isnt high on our list of priorities, but its definitely something that we will implement sometime in the future. A good suggestion.

Even simple things like this can take 50+ man hours to code, test, implement and maintain.

The more our members take an active interest in our advertisers/sponsors the more resources ShareScene will have to continue improving the service for all.

The recent round of adverts have funded the ShareScene Book Club, ShareScene Radio, ShareScene Floats and many other new features.

Very good point.

Hey all,

I have been working on a ShareScene badge over the last months that members can wear to real events like AGMs seminars and traders expos ... as like a "SIGN" that you are a member of SS and other members can come up and introduce themselves.

As well as building face to face connections with other traders..... it also benefits ShareScene considerably through targeted advertising.

I would love to get some feedback on the idea... and I have attached two designs for the badge, which I would like you to vote on.

The key difference is whether we have a white border outside the blue chart line or not.

Thanks guys....

Geoff

if you visit the book club website http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showforum=55 cat davey's book is second from the top of the block of three subforums.

everyone seems to be getting confused about this layout of topics and subforums....

Its a little tricky for me to fix as those special guest topics need different headers at the top of the topics, which require it being a different sub forum...

Go ahead and make the posts...

There is no advertising on the cat davey thread anymore, so there arent any conflicts.

Ok good stuff... I finally got a solid reply from them about how we need to proceed to open the special accounts. You need to PM me your full name and phone number, and I will pass this onto the marketing manager of FPM who will give special instructions to Hayden to set you up with this account.

The 0.1% CFD rate is something I have negotiated for the special SS accounts, regardless of when you set them up. So you dont need to worry about that public deadline.

So those who were interested, make sure you are confident with the decision (check out their PDS and info on their site) and PM me with your name and number.

I would have to agree, the wording gives me the impression that the prohibitations only apply if you are not the intended recipient.

However, there may still be other implied or explict reasons why Candar shouldnt have shared it publicly.

And yes, everything shared in MF IS PRIVATE and not to be shared outside the moderator group. This is a very important rule that I hope and expect everyone agrees is not something that should be bent or stretched.

ok guys biggrin.gif

We've all had a good chance to voice our opinions and I think thats probably enough for now.

All the points raised from all sides have been noted, and when the temperature decreases we can look into them further to work out how we can do our very difficult job better.

I agree that arguments via PM alone is not a good enough reason to take major action (unless there is a scam or death threats etc happening).

I don't believe Matt scours PMs for no real reason. When there is a moderation issue, we have the right to check behind the scenes to judge the temperature and see if members are apologising to each other or attacking each other further. I agree that we should keep PM reading to a minimum, I believe we are at a reasonable level (maybe we could decrease it 10-20%, but I think we are achieving about the right balance).

I think its obvious a few personal feathers got ruffled in the last few days... I really dont think its anything personal from either side. Misccomunication and misinterpretation, and not knowing all the details are facts of life and facts of working as a team.

I hope we can all move forward, take a bit of a breather, smile and keep on keeping sharescene great.

Its great that we can have open debate (it leads to positive change) but lets try to keep it as pleasant and contructive as possible, in line with what we promote on the public boards.

Cheers all,
Geoff

Hayden's great isnt he. Hes the star salesperson at FPM at the moment. The thing they say about him is that he has the most amazing memory of each client (hardly needs to revise the file)... and he doesnt come across as sales pitchy.

Yes, I was partly aware of possible bank account issues. Im trying to get more definite details on that. My impression is that it isnt easy to continually take money in and out of your trading bank account.

For me I dont care... to keep accounting as easy as possible, I prefer to just let the money sit there.

Any last takers, make sure you use this link and sign up for as many areas of the site as you wish.

So far I think we have 6 who are interested.

Make sure you visit the site via this link so sharescene gets credit for the joinup.

Give it a good look over and make sure it really is right for you.

From my research the commission seems quite fair to me, and their customer support has been very friendly and their sales staff not pushy at all, which is excellent.

As part of getting this $50 a month discount, you will need to help me out with collecting (anonomous is ok) some customer feedback, criticisms, positive points... worries, concerns...

These will be compiled into a review that will be posted publically in some form (exact details to be decided).

Also, your feedback will give me some more on the ground research that will help me to strategically structure their next advertising campaign with us.

cheers,
Geoff

Anyone who is genuinely interested, go crazy signing up for stuff on their site, and make sure you are really happy with what they offer (every broker is subtly different).

The more areas you visit and the more you read, the more credit sharescene gets.

The tracking is automated, via the click in the banners (and the link I provided in the post).

Here is the link again first prudential

Its great to see you guys are interested. My gut says FPM is a good company. I know the company from the inside out (talked to about 5 or 6 employees), and I have a good feeling about them.

They are mainly people who used to work for CMC Markets... nuff said.

Good news moderators!

I have been working with first prudential markets (a premium service shares and cfd broker) recently to see if I can get some sort of exclusive deal for a small group of ShareScene members.

At this stage this discount is completely invite only, and only for those who want to become a reviewer for the FPM service.

First Prudential is offering a small group (no more than 15) a 100% rebate on the $55 a month fee that is charged as an ongoing webiress platform cost. This fee is normally $75 a month I think, and is pretty common with those using the webiress platform.

I am moving to FPM, as is Andrew on this discount and most likely a few others who deserve to be rewarded for their support of ShareScene.

If you are interested, then visit fpmarkets.com.au/ check it out (sign up for the webiress demo for example).

If you are interested in signing up with them and getting the $50 a month fee removed (I think permanently) let me know and Ill arrange it for you.

Cheers,
Geoff

All advertisements are tracked that it came from the ShareScene website by clicking (and some by leads, if you sign up for more information with the site). Without members clicking the advertisements ShareScene would be closed for business very fast.

The more clicks, the more features we can launch to improve ShareScene (like ShareScene Floats, and ShareScene Radio and the ShareScene Book Club).

We encourage all members to visit and consider all our sponsors regularly.

However we don't encourage you to continiously click just for the purpose of improving our stats. This is dishonest and unethical.

Clicks on advertisements are greatly appreciated, but it is the sales and leads that companies really want, so be sure to check them out with a geniune interest.

Thanks for your support Datum. We need more members like you to support this service and keep it free.

Our major sponsor at the moment is First Prudential Markets.

I would have thought the general rule would be to point him to the uranium topic...... if what he has to add is just about uranium, and not specifically relevant to the company.

I'll leave it to matt to clean up if he thinks so.

It looks like the black one is more popular!

Come to think of it, all the people who i asked and said they prefered blue were female (that may have something to do with it).

Ill give it another hour, but it looks like black is the WINNER!

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions.

The book club admin is following up these requests. Hopefully he can find copies of these books, and will start a topic for discussion.

By the way, it would be greatly appreciated if you visit http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7633&hl= and have a read of the announcement there. Your input is valuable.

Yup! We are all very proud!

To quote matt:

"Sharescene has been in operation for 908 days (therefore an average of 330 post per day, one post every 4m 18 sec)"

Not bad!

NOT BAD AT ALL!

Great to be part of such a growing success!

Hi Kura,

There is a global problem with FireFox users not being able to open attachments on ShareScene correctly (try it in IE and it will work).

I've seen the screenshot.

Ive sent you a PM trying to pinpoint the cause (I have a good idea what might be causing it).

In Kura's screenshot, the RADIO link (see below diagram) is missing. Is there anyone else who is having this problem?

2450 members online today.. and still got 30 minutes to go.

We just blasted our last record out of the water... what was our last record? YESTERDAY! May 1st with 2273 members online.

So we have broken the record twice in a row.

We are going to do an email out about ShareScene floats, radio and book club tommorow, and really hoping for the hatrick!

We will see.

Well done gang!

I'm surprised there is no other discussion on ShareScene radio yet.

The feature has recieved over 1000 views in the last few days... are there any comments or suggestions for improvement?

If you think its fine how it is, let us know also.

nothing official or proven, but there were rumours that a direct competitor to sharescene was hacked a few years back, and spam might be flowing on from that.

Just a rumour.

I have over 15 test email addresses from 15 different email providers scattered over the sharescene database and not one has recieved spam to date. I think that is pretty strong evidence that its not coming from sharescene.

Baz,

What you are talking about prevents people from sending you email to via a web form. Notice how there is an email button at the bottom left of my post, while there is no email button on the bottom of yours.

No email addresses are visable on ShareScene, unless you actively disclose them yourself.

ShareScene has never given out email addresses to a third party.

We have no reason to believe what you claim is the case. We have a large number of test email addresses that have received no such spam.

in the back of my mind i was wondering why we hadnt gotten any report posts for a while!
It turns out it wasnt working (most likely since the server change!).

There was a complex mysql database version problem... which i had to code a work around for.

It should be all working and tested now.

It is always with great pleasure that I am able to announce a new milestone in ShareScene's membership growth.

Membership growth represents so many things to be proud of. Most of all, it tells us all, members and staff that we are doing something right.

Did you know 9 out of 10 newly joining ShareScene members become part of our community by personal reccomendation and referral?

This combined with our continued rapid growth shows that ShareScene truely something special. As we grow, the resource we share becomes richer and wider reaching.

This growth has also been acknowledged by our sponsors, who are making new features such as ShareScene Radio, ShareScene Float Info, the ShareScene Book Club + many more to be launched soon possible.

Leading investment educators such as Jim Berg, Louise Bedford and Peter Hegarty also enthusiastically support ShareScene and the principles of quality intelligent discussion.

My thanks to every member who has posted, and contributed back to the community. Keep it up! We can all look forward to even more exciting discussion and new features in the near future.

Cheers,
Geoff on behalf of the ShareScene.com team

This is actually quite an interesting suggestion.

We could potentially highlight any normal three letter company topics from the "By Share Code" forum a slighlty different colour, on the Today's Posts page.

What do others feel about this?

Would this be a helpful improvement?

Of course you can always access each separate forum (off topic chat, investment discussion, special guest forum, book club) independently via the front page.

Thanks for the suggestion...

Hi forrest,

We are still looking into your request... on the surface it is quite simple, but there are some tricky issues we need to look at first. Ill keep you updated.

------

To all firefox users.... hopefully the mystery of the jumping search share code "GO" button should be fixed. If you still experience a jumping GO button, let us know, but it might just be that you've been staring too long at the computer screen biggrin.gif

Have a great day all.

Hi everyone,

This poll is to decide top three prize winners from the hugely popular "Best Witty/Funny ShareScene Saying Wins a PRIZE!" competition. The best quotes will be made into a free sticker included with a purchase of ShareScene's upcomming range of community memorabilia.

Hundreds of entries were submitted and we present a shortlist of entries. The top three voted quotes will win a prize from the selection of ShareScene.com Community Memorabilia.

Winning quotes need to appeal to investors and traders who might be interested in joining ShareScene and becomming part of the community.

Cheers and have fun!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience...

We have launched a poll that will decide the three winners.

There were so many fantastic contributions. Some sayings were were too long in length for this particular competition, despite being extremely smart and funny. So, if you aren't on the shortlist for this current bumper sticker competition, you are still in the running for other upcoming mini-competitions!

For now, make sure you vote on the poll at http://www.sharescene.com/index.php?showtopic=7331

Cheers,

There is some fancy stuff Im working on to possibly get interviews DIRECTLY onto the company boards. Im guessing it will be a month or so before I get it fully working.

For now, I am going to just provide a button you can press to visit the SS Radio page for that particular company. There you can see company info (price, directors, homepage, company announcements) and any webcasts.

Thanks for your feedback about the radio... its only been launched 20 minutse and its got 14 views already.

Feedback on the SS radio page is highly encouraged. We need are eager to make improvements.

We will be encouraging people to click the sharescene.com logo to go back home... I dont know if its a good enough solution, as its very important for people to be aware of the home page and have easy access. What do you think?

Jbeatty, i forgot to set up the moderator permissions on the new book club forum. Ive fixed it and you should have your delete button back. Thanks for the heads up.

Chiller... The poll was deleted, so feel free to create it again. Sorry about that. Not sure why you couldnt edit it.

Yes, I agree ASX256 looks like a serious trouble maker (already spouting claims to insider knowledge in RRS).
