Hi Mick, the banking inquiry must have disturbed a few rabbits down the rabbit hole as I received a letter Friday out of the blue from Commsec saying Tax adjustment note/ Total refund brokerage amount for 3 trades in April 2009 which comprised $30 brokerage overcharge and interest compensation of $11.01...the wheels of the bankers grind slowly with a little prodding...hate to imagine what else is happening out there...cheers

the veneer of civilization is supremely thin, scratch it with a fingernail and after 3 days without electricity, lights, water, power, and fuel bowers silent along with atm's...of course supermarkets close immediately. How should we view the easy going male/female then?....a very long pause and exhalation of breath

Hi , like or hate him last nights film by Michael Moore on SBS Capitalism:A love Story showed exactly what is wrong with the USA....one of 3 weekly films just been shown.Saw another interview with Doug Casey the US entrepreneur who when asked as to who will win the election next Nov stated that there could be a military coup engineered by Deep State by then....I know ...fanciful and utterly extreme but fact many times has proved stranger than fiction...as the Chinese curse says "may you live in interesting times"

Gold now finally has parity with cash.... March 29 this year saw the start of the Bank for International Settlements new rules implementation final phase. Some experts believe that returning the status of money to gold should put an end to the absolute power of the dollar. According to their forecasts, the US currency may fall by 40% by December, and may lose its value at the beginning of next year....Will be interesting to see with all the debt being floated worldwide which leans to USD being a haven of last resort

Clive Maund always has a good point of view.... With things shaping up so well for gold, we can certainly take any short-term correction in our stride, and more than that, we can seize upon it as an opportunity to build positions further across the sector, whether by means of ETFs, stocks or options, and of course, gold itself.

Greenies are happy to have won, business is happy too ...greenies say govt will pay for it while business /finance will make a fortune skimming off the top through PPE. Assets left in the ground ala Narrabri and elsewhere for next time around to wash hands and repeat process....privatise profits and socialise debt...just have to make sure you are on right side of equation as some made a motza in ESG .. Eastern Star Gas and others lost heaps

kahuna1, when you post you are like a whirling dervish, why not slow down , stick to cycles, Krondratieff even poor old Harry Dent gets it right in his cycles ..sunspot activity i in global warming and markets by traders Art Cashin , even the Egyptians , Mayans and numerous civilizations were aware of cycles before they ignored them and then collapsed ...such is life and as 94 yr old auntie passes, a generation of learning is lost as considered old hat, discarded and the new generation enters into the same mistakes as is fashionable in QLD... black houses and black cars in tropical heat as the the mexicans come north with new designer ideas ,as someone said, history doesn't always repeat but quite often rhymes....the veneer of civilization is extremely thin. scratching with a finger nail is sharper than a Japanese sword and more deadly

ah, there is a bit of sceptic in me still, one reason why I only trust a one handed economist so he can never couch his opinion by saying.... Mr Minack argued on one hand a fading housing sector and weak wages remained headwinds to the economy, while improved corporate sentiment may mean things turn out better than expected. even the Germans are not immune to irregularities.... Steinhoff owns Australian retailers such as Best and Less, Snooze, Freedom, Harris Scarfe and Fantastic Furniture. Banks owning these companies and the parent must be worried today about any loans they have with the Steinhoff companies. Moody’s downgrade will focus minds today.
If the parent collapses or is placed in administration, the futures of these Australian retailers will be clouded. .... http://www.sharecafe.com.au/sharecafe.asp?a=AV&ai=46837

QUOTE
WA is being urged to provide subsidies and incentives to fast-charge the uptake of electric cars as part of efforts to cut vehicle emissions and tap into a looming jobs bonanza.
With countries around the world moving to phase out petrol cars in coming decades, Behyad Jafari from the Electric Vehicle Council said there was a risk WA could get left behind in the switch to electrified transport

QUOTE
There are just 320 EVs on WA’s roads and barely 5000 Australia-wide but Mr Jafari said there were more than two million across the globe and sales were gathering pace as prices fell and the cars’ range increased........ although WA is naturally down due to geographical reasons MrJafari should buy a two bob calculator and he would find that OZ is holding up well against the US with its much larger population

More importantly than over supply, where is the proprietary technology going to come from and how much will the battery designs cost, and when that is decided where are the rare earths and
materials going to come from? A lot of hot air being floated at the moment but no doubt it will happen in some form or other.

Isn't it strange that a discussion about property suddenly morphs into visual pictures and colour comes to the fore... its not about race but inane and weak decisions that are made by govts...heard the same argument during Vietnam war when Americans where buying up our farms, then kiwi's buying up Goldcoast and elsewhere....then came the Japanese till they went bust...now the Chinese so if we are still dumb enough to have done nothing after all this time so be it...stop whinging. All we have to do is legislate certain or similar controls as they do to foreign ownership in their country.

Northern Minerals (NTU), which last traded at 15c a share compared with a 2011 high of 80c, is pulling in $30 million from an equity injection from China's Shandong Taizhong for its Nolan's project on the Northern Territory/Western Australian border.......nipper, not sure where you got that article but they need to improve their homework and geography

Arafura Resources plans to mine neodymium and praseodymium at Nolans, near Aileron, 135 kilometres north-west of Alice Springs.
The chemical elements would then be transported to an offshore refinery for final chemical processing into high-value rare earth products, which are currently in high demand for electrical products across the world.

Arafura Northern Territory general manager Brian Fowler said the major project status was an important milestone that would assist Nolans gain its pending environmental approvals, as well as sending a positive message to potential financers of the project.

"This step in terms of major project status we believe will be an enabler going forward," he said.

“I can see a case where US shale is the biggest supplier of oil in the world by 2020." Mark Papa, the former head of EOG Resources Oil and gas investment has collapsed from $700bn in 2014 to nearer $400bn this year. IHS estimates that planned spending by 2020 will be $1.8 trillion less than forecast two years ago, almost guaranteeing an oil shortage as global demand keeps growing by 1.2m barrels per day (b/d) each year and existing wells deplete at an annual rate of 3m b/d......perhaps in honour of his beliefs he should rename his company EGO Resources or Optimist Drilling

Barra, what is so difficult is to ascertain the truth. Here is an article telling fact on Aug 04... http://www.mauldineconomics.com/connecting...y-is-in-trouble
and then this one even with charts from the the Fed .... http://www.mauldineconomics.com/connecting...et-proctologist .The problem is so many sources of questionable repute and motive that it is almost impossible to know who to believe and conflicting arguments virtually printed at the same time. As Ned Kelly said on the gallows while being relieved of his last breath, " Such is life ". That's how many investors are thinking at the moment as their pockets are diminished by misinformation.Yet we are told the US economy is booming, what a life !! or lie.

" If you don't have a problem with an economy which is evermore becoming reliant on a residential housing building boom and a stock market that by international standards has become heavily skewed and dependant on a bloated and inward looking financial sector (which isn't even a world financial hub), whose existence relies on the continuation of such boom, against a background of already overvalued property prices by international standards and also by historically benchmarked Australian standards, then maybe I am being misleading."

They will need to do well to catch up, on WCL....

It lost money from the collapse of Sichuan Hanlong Group's bid to take over Australia's Sundance Resources Ltd. (SDL) The deal broke after Liu Han, the billionaire chairman of closely held Hanlong, was reported by China's Shanghai Securities News to have been unexpectedly detained with his wife in China in March.

Senrigan Master Fund lost 14 percent in the first half, according to a performance update sent to investors last month. Without the Sundance investment, it would have generated a 5 percent return in the six months, it said in the document.

The fund lost 3 percent in June, with 2 percentage points attributable to a Sundance-related markdown on what the document described as a general sell-off in Australia before the end of the tax year, it said.

The big investors got in at higher prices and are apparently happy knowing that shortages are building.

Kasbah Resources Limited (Kasbah, ASX: KAS) is pleased to announce that Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) has completed its acquisition of a 20% interest in the Achmmach Tin Project in Morocco.
TTC has paid $16M to Kasbah since 2012 and with this final payment of $1.2M takes TTC’s total project level investment to approximately $17.2M.
With TTC earning its 20% interest in the Joint Venture (JV), the JV interests become Kasbah 75%, TTC 20% and Nittetsu Mining 5% with all Project expenditure from this point split on this basis.
Kasbah is the manager and operator of the Achmmach JV.

Hi triage, saw this snippet this morning and smiled when thinking of the elephant as TA or FA in regard to peoples views...such is the human race.

In his book, The Psychology of Science (1966), Abraham Maslow famously wrote: "I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail."

The sentiment wasn't new, but this became known as Maslow's Hammer, and it's used to describe the law of the instrument. That is, the over-reliance on a familiar tool.

Maslow's basic idea was that we tend to see the world through our own history and perspective, desperately trying to reduce all information to bits we can understand in our own frameworks.

While Maslow was pointing out the flaws of modern scientists as they tried to describe how the human brain works through physical explanations of composition and physiology, his basic premise can be traced back to a parable from India that discusses blind men and an elephant.

Each man touches the elephant in one spot — the trunk, the tail, the belly, etc. — and comes away with a different description of the creature. Every man is both right and wrong at the same time. All of them failed to see the entire elephant, and none accepted the points of view of the others.

All of this comes to mind as I read different takes on the current state of the economy and the markets.

re all inclusive production costs /tonne....
Even if an iron ore price rout occurred, Rio and BHP would be survivors. Their all-in break-even prices are just over $US40 a tonne.

The self-described Australian ''third force'', Fortescue, has also improved its defences after almost being derailed by a slump in the iron ore price to $US86.70 in September 2012. It has cut its debt load and added lower-cost production to pull its break-even price down from $US103 a tonne last year to an expected $US83 a tonne this year, and an expected $US73 a tonne in 2015.

from the Alaska despatch link... A traditional LNG project involves development of gas fields, pipelines, a liquefaction plant, storage tanks, a shipping terminal and tankers, as well as regasification terminals to receive the LNG -- a coordinated value chain developed in unison.

But for many U.S. export projects, much of this value chain exists already. The project's core undertaking is just the liquefaction plant, a much smaller investment, and, in part because it's smaller, one that allows newer kinds of companies into the business than the government and international oil companies that have dominated the business. The LNG plant merely would provide a service to the resource owner — processing, storing and shipping the gas; it would never take ownership of the gas, avoiding the risks of commodity prices.

This is what Aussie firm LNG Ltd is doing at Lake Charles, Louisiana and is reflected in its share price since Feb as certain milestones are met and boxes ticked...still more upside to come. Bye, bye Fisherman's Landing

This is from a British author who has another take.....
DEMOCRACY and the Illusion of Freedom

The financial crisis has given the general population a window into the reality of the system of slavery that exists in the west to the extent that the bankster elite rule the country and not the politicians who in large part are nothing more than propaganda servants in the service of their elite masters whom they hope to eventually join the ranks of on leaving office.

This is why instead of holding the bankster criminal elite to account the politicians have in action rather than rhetoric gone out if their way to protect their masters, which means in Britain no bankster’s have even been charged with a crime let alone gone to prison, instead they have ALL been BAILED OUT to UNLIMITED extent by ordinary tax payers, by the SLAVES who work for the elites in their factories, offices and retail outlets.

So all that happens each time a new bankster elite fraud is revealed is that the UK Treasury and Bank of England step forward to bail out the banks with ever escalating amounts of tax payer monies all the whilst deploying mainstream media smoke and mirrors to hide the extent of the bailouts, as exampled by the mis-selling scandals with another scandal revealed virtually every other month such as PPI mis-selling and the tens of billions that will need to be paid out as compensation for the LIBOR price fixing fraud, whilst the Bank of England’s brethren continue to bank billions in bonuses on the basis of fictitious taxed wage slaves funded profits.

Thanks for the post, however USA may become self suffient very quickly and I think we will see a self provisiong of strategics assets come to the fore. At same time many may think oil is plenty but dont factor in production costs let alone enviromental costs for domestic potable water and for farming. I think the prices for oil/gas are irevocably about to rise ...cheers

2 quotes I love..." There is something tragi-comic about the way most investors hang on to the Fed’s every word, as if they were gods instead of what they really are which is an elite racket who have painted themselves into a corner after years of malfeasance " and " In a free society each and every trader should have the right to sell at the bottom" ...Clive P Maund 05/01/13

obviously did not take the time to read the feasibility study and missed the whole point of my post anyway..also its open pit...Project Description
The proposed development of the Bissett Creek graphite deposit includes the construction of an open pit mine,
a 2,300tpd flotation processing plant based on 92% availability, a natural gas fueled power generating plant
and associated infrastructure. The processing plant will consist of conventional crushing, grinding and flotation
circuits followed by concentrate drying and screening. The Company plans to build a natural gas pipeline to the
site from the main Trans Canada line which is approximately 15 kms away. The natural gas will fuel five
1.0 MW-generators to produce electrical power and waste heat from the generators will be used to dry the
concentrate. This will result in low overall energy costs. Heaps more there to read ..however I read with amusement your acid comments on many shares and now take your comments with more than a grain of salt..I enjoy your postings though rolleyes.gif ..cheers

Wishing everyone the compliments of the season and a healthy and prosperous New Year. Came across this article which I found very interesting and will use as a benchmark of what Syrah has to compete with in terms of infrastucture, closeness to markets, value adding and time frame in coming to production. Size is not always the best attribute as many factors make a company..cheers all

Now there is a novel thought, might be better to go higher and involve the World Bank and the International Humanitarian Fund and the World Council For Overpopulation who I am sure would be interested in keeping down the worlds population with another subsidy and employing a few more people in this vital industry.

Latest from Der Spiegel shows the latest cracks.... Objective analysis, or media spin to gauge popular reaction to Plan Z? Whatever it is, today's staff lead article in the English section of Spiegel has a piece that will likely raise more than a few eyebrows: "The common currency union was supposed to benefit the economy of the entire European Union. Now that the euro is struggling, however, it is bringing growth down with it. Germany's economy, once seemingly immune to the crisis, is now facing mounting difficulties."
