many thanks for the graph kelt. The market expectation was that we would have a confirmed gas resource by now and the initial pilot drilling prog appears to have missed the sweet spots with no commercial flow rates achieved to date. But the drilling program has a way to go and there is still some cash left to keep drilling. Also a victim of the general fall in support for CSG in general (recently re-kindled with AOE possible take-over). Beach Petroleum have bought in to other tenements. Unfortunately it will fall further in the coming weeks if the market impression is that its not going to happen. Good buying support around current levels. Some director support too. Also has been the victim of shorting. One substantial disaffected shareholder in there too.

yah wish i had the sense to bail and buy back in! Thanks to Ray James buying in. Just what was needed. It will retreat though if they dont publish some flow rates soon.

In case you did not notice a director bought a small parcel the other day - would have been good with another zero on the end but he is supposed to be an independent director which would limit what he could do. Good luck to all.

Hi MME - the crucial word in your post is the word "YET"! they do have two great tenements now and that PEL in SA thrown in for good measure with BPT. Also a good cash war chest to keep drilling. -the main problem of course with all the specs- and a contingent gas supply deal -and pipeline! So they do have a bit going for them. I dont think anything will come of the PEL but the CSG play hopefully well get to P1 in the coming months with 626. Too much hype coming from the company though the info is good - so you are correct. If you read BOW they had problems with the coals breaking - so far we have avoided that. Other bloggers on the crapper are predicting a dollar by the end of the calendar year - here's hoping!

The sellers should just hold their nerve - the pigs are in the trough slurping away - they will amend their buys with demand now grossly outstripping supply.

Yup Crystal was right they are sooo good to look at when pointing in the right direction. I would rather wait a week till the next ann! If that prelim report is good (mentioned in todays ann) it will surely fly. But i should not be posting -everytime I start 'crowing' the stock turns to sh___t.

But still another bunch of sellers came back on again today. Got me stumped. I dont think its day traders.

love these graphs thanks for posting it Crystal. I think U used to post on SLA! I think this one's got more potential right now. DYOR of course I am a long termer on this one - in and out over the years. I have faith in the management others dont. It will fly if they prove up even a small portion. They are very confident of confirmed 2p - Ithink its got more going for it than BOW vis a vis the share price. I cant understand why there has been so much selling since the peak seen on the graph. There has never been more potential with ICN than right now. Why sell. I am guessing that its one of big shareholders who bought in cheap taking profits but i got no idea!

Nice to see you posting on this one BSA and thanks for the graph which keeps things in perspective. I remember your insightful posts on SLA. Lets hope this flies like BOW and Malapo. So far so good. There is a video of the gas bubbling along quite nicely on www.iconenergy.com I am surprised at the continuing volume of sellers. Perhaps the shorters are still in there. It would be good to see the latest top 20 shareholders. The price has held up well considering the SPP at 30c. Three weeks ago ICN was in the Fin Review "taking stock" col -very non commital.

Yes it was a bit disconcerting to see Ray James selling at this point. We just have to take the reason proposed at face value. I think the Baldwin Camp just taking profits and who knows may be buying back in since you posted with the price back up again. I did not get too excited reading the roadshow agenda but it will be interesting to see what the SPP will be to pay for the outlay. Holders I think will be eligible for a pro rata allocation at xc per share. Everything will change if they can prove up these reserves - SP - credibility - cost of finance - eveything!

Yes C thanks for this - so far so good. Strong gas showing so far and dare i mention it - no mechanical problems. Lets hope and pray we dont have another Louisiana. I was surprised the SP did not take off a bit yesterday after a strong start - a few cents at least. Maybe the manipulation of the price referred to in the ann is still happening. Lots of sellers at a crucial time. Must be about the best prospect right now - why sell.

Whilst the leak has no bearing on whether there is gas down there or not its still bad for the co's credibility. Leaking of info has always been an issue.

Just spent a bit of time on this website. http://iconenergyactiongroup/stanwell-deal/

for the other side of the argument - issuing more shares instead of farm-in - must admit I was always for this. But too late now methinks and there is more out of the stanwell deal than it says on this link. Interesting days ahead. Wish I had the time to attend in person. Will be a good meeting! Ray James needs to go on BRR and address all the arguments.

Yes Bb all shareholders got notification of the EGM requisitioned by a minority shareholder >5%. ICN put out a detailed letter dated 13 January 2008 - of course they meant 2009. I am sure it will be on the website. Co Secy not paying attention but its a sign of the distraction this has caused. In my opinion to cut a long story short mgt have done a tremendous job taking the gas prospect to its current status and getting Stanwell (govt entity -due diligence and all that) involved i thought was VG given the current economic and financial climate. It was a pity just before, the Directors attempted to increase their pay but subsequently withdrew the resolutions. It was not good timing. Would have gone down better with shareholders after 3p reserves achieved! Having said that I still have faith in the current direction and the current MD. This crude attempt to take control must be considered just a tad speculative. But there it is. Everyone has to decide for themselves but judging by the tone of the latest circular to which you refer there must be a chance its going to succeed. So make sure you vote according to your own research and judgement.

Hi C/bay the sale to Queensland Gas happened some years ago. ICN sold the tenement to stay alive and is now producing. That came out at the last AGM. Have you read the Chairman's announcement after the AGM on their Website or on the ASX website or Commsec? the ICN website will give you the maps of all their tenements and other good info. www.iconenergy.com in case you dont know it.

very fair observation - was concerned about that too but market so far not too concerned. Problem has eased since you posted though BNB like the rest edged down today. Our main concern is proving up the reserves - if BNB fall over they would likely fall back on a farm in if they were short of cash to complete the de-watering. Once we move from indicative to probable reserves the rest will fall in to place. ICN are good at picking the right tenements - they sold the tenement to Queensland Gas on which their current SP is based - in case posters did not know.

A bit disapointing what happened this morning Bb - sellers caved in to the buyers - if they had held their nerve I am sure the buyers would have increased their bids. This has mostly been trend (with one or two notable exceptions) I have noticed over the last couple of weeks. Methinks we need to wait on what comes out of the AGM 2 weeks tomorrow. Not sure charting is much good with this stock!

I recommend all ICN held posters attend the AGM 30 May - though seems we are taking off with a new 52 week high today. I have attended a number over the years and have found them very informative with good one-on-one sessions with Ray James and other directors. Well worth the time and effort. But RJ needs to feel there is goodwill in the room. RJ after the formal proceedings have closed normally does a good presentation of current status and they allow heaps of time for questions.

Regarding the claims they are making the directors are always criticised for not providing any detail and taking a low key approach to publicity and marketing. Knowing that they are a bit conservative I am surprised they are so bullish - the tone of the release was interesting - though one must never get one's hopes up with ICN!) (I currently hold).

Betty
There will always be downside pressure after a peak reached on good news. My experience is the market always over-corrects both up and down with spec stocks at times like this. No doubt you read today's update. Finally we have Stitch drilling which is what we have been waiting for. ICN have been pretty good sticking to the drilling schedule with no unexpected problems as has happened in the past. ( apart from the rain) I wonder what Mr Easyprofit's take is on the updates. The new Co Secy appears to have a pretty low key style of writing which is probably a good thing.

Yes I did notice that ! very well done indeed! I must get some tips from you Toilet! Problem is the offer is conditional on a range of things - including approval from the NZ ASIC - wish i got out at $5 too!

For any other MXG holders - I am surprised Brookfield have only just managed to secure just over the 51% required - I wonder why the other 49% have not accepted considering all the media commentary advice has been to accept.

The ann today informs the market that the offer has been extended by a month as most of the conditions have not been achieved to date. Does anyone know if this is a matter for concern or just process/formality issues? I accepted the offer but now wish i had just sold on market - commsec won't let me withdraw it. The media commentary was that the take-over was a 'done deal' anyone got a view on this? It seems take up of the offer has only just sneaked over 50% which surprises me. Any learned investors out there with a view on how this proposed take over is proceding?

Spicer its not Howard who has screwed the QLD environment mate - its Mr Beatie whose govt has done zero to protect the QLD environment - eg turning a blind eye to things like clear-felling the Daintree. thumbdown.gif

But whats more to the point how can SLA SP be valued 30% less AFTER Ropren approval! have not been in here for weeks - no one respond - just venting. I will never understand shares -wish I had stuck to property! Better buy more methinks

The great battles at Board level UTB mostly rage between non exec and the exec directors - the exec directors are both officers with resps under their duty statement and accountable to the board at operational level and at Director level have responsibilities (and voting powers) partic to shareholders under the companies act. The non-execs usually catch up on their sleep at Board meetings and pick up fat stipends for the priviledge. As Livas says it is good that they are all exec directors - ie all care and all responsibility. What we don t have on the Board though are any independent directors and there does not appear to be anyone designated as CEO which in my exp is quite unusual but not nec wrong. I presume Mr Kilroy the acts like the CEO.

Yup you are correct Di - I am suggesting exactly that! You see the only way you make money on shares is where you know more (factual information) than someone else - which is why we should not dish out mild rebukes to other investors who try to find out as much as poss from directors! Thanks for that NZ info you have provided -how do you know that?

I have put down as 'youthful exuberance' the tone of numerous statements and communications from the company over the past few months but I believe the directors operate and communicate in good faith from a firm basis of stong underlying fundamentals to coin a well used cliche. Thats my hope anyway! graduated.gif

In reply to: floyd on Thursday 21/06/07 01:48pm

Yes floyd - I think the MD needs a bit of a kick in the tail for being so unequivocal about the approval date of Ropren - if he had just included a 'rider' barring any UNFORESEEN circumstances Ropren will be approved by 30 June .... sort of thing - we would not all be biting our nails. I am convinced that in their hearts they believe it will happen but Russia is Russia and doing business in Russia is full of unforeseen events.

I am no expert in shares but from my limited experience if approval is not announced during June as effectively promised by the company the SP will take a plunge immed in the new year - because the credibility will take a short term knock and some investors will take profits in the new tax year.
