Good start by the Bananabenders. Khawaja seems a bit keen on batting second ..........

Fingers crossed for Adelaide.
Kiwis going OK in NZ.

Cheers

Yikes, after being sent in by Queensland skipper, Tassy 3 wickets down for four runs.
Steketee 3 for 2.
The latest selector G Bailey out for 2.
Must be a bit of a green top in Hobart.

By the way, I think it's great that George Bailey has been appointed as a selector. He's experienced, good tactician, knows present players in all form of the game, totally fair and unbiased.

Excellent appointment.

QUOTE
Justin Langer describing Marnus Labuschagne as among the most "coachable" players he has been involved with does not sound particularly special unless it is placed in the context of the vexed role for coaches over cricket's long history.

Says a lot about Langer . He obviously wants only players who fit his ideas. Great coaches have different methods for different personalities, recognise the strengths and weaknesses, find ways to get the best from the most talented players.

Langer is a "method" man. Short may he reign.

Paine

QUOTE
Tim Paine says the Australian camp was surprised and relieved when Mohammad Abbas was dropped for the first Test.

In a shock selection, Abbas was left out when Pakistan decided instead to reward Imran Khan’s good form in the Australia A game in Perth.

“Yeah, I was pretty happy he didn’t play to be totally honest,” Paine said after Australia won the first Test by an innings and five runs.

“He probably would’ve been a handful out there.”

I wonder if he (Paine) thought about how relieved the Pakistani batsmen were this morning when he didn't give Stark a bowl until after the drinks break ??

Cheers

Interesting stat in The Australian ....

The leading strike rates of Australia’s top 12 wicket-takers has been updated, and we have a new leader:

Mitchell Starc 49.4

Mitchell Johnson 51.1

Glenn McGrath 51.9

Dennis Lillee 52.0

I wonder if Stark will now be "rested" for the Adelaide match ......... nothing would surprise !!

Well, we got there eventually. Took quite an effort on a pretty tame wicket for the Gabba, but the new ball cleaned them up. Still very unimpressed with Paine's captaincy ............ he's lucky he has 4 top bowlers at his disposal.

And now on to Adelaide, where the pitch will probably also be fairly tame. Congrats to the Aussie team, and well played Pakistan in pretty trying conditions. Didn't hear any whinging at all.

Cheers

After 27 overs, Stark has bowled 4, and has 2 out of 3 wickets. I’d love to hear Paine’s reasoning.
And now that the new ball has been wasted, and the batsmen set, will Mitch eventually get a bowl? Apparently Paine has a plan.

Cheers

And now Paine opens with Lyon ...... Pakistan batsmen cheer silently. Is this Payne’s bizarre idea, or Langer’s ?
How does a captain justify ignoring a fresh bowler who has two wickets in two overs?
Paine has NFI., but no doubt Langer and Hohns think he’s brilliant.

Cheers
