Posts sorted inverse by date, what do you prefer it this way?
You will notice that the newest posts in a topic are now sorted to the top (not the bottom) of your screen. Do you find reading backwards through time confusing or do you find inverse sorting easier to navigate?

kismet... you will notice this is already possible.

Whenever you go to a page with posts on it, up the top of the list of posts are some settings you can customize.

We will be writing tutorials on how to use this and more very soon.

Admin1,

Having the choice is great....however a number of these boards have the first post appear at the top.....but once a user has viewed this topic, the next time the same topic is viewede (by the same user) , it starts at the last post from the previous view.

So for example a thread has 15 posts, the user views that post and reads the first 15 posts, next time the user views the same thread it now has 25 posts, the system is smart enuf to start the thread on post number 16. So if the user wants to go back and read the first 15 you can, but really you just want to read the "new" posts within that thread. How about it ?????

How about, setting up within a forum ---> topic titles ---> in the column marked "replies" total number replies and the new replies since last viewing in brackets. This would of course be unique to user and I guess would handled by cookies.

If this software is similiar to others going around it can be done...this would add something good to what already is going to be a much better forum than what is previously on offer...

Cheers
Muzz

WE HAVE BEEN WORKING THROUGH THE NIGHT FOR YOU GUYS!

This one was particularly hard to program, because it conflicted with a the previous programming code already set up. Initially we thought it wasnt possible, but for now we have a solution.

You will notice when you are at a page with posts in them, at the top, there are some extra options, ("Show X posts per page, sorted in ascending/descending order")

You set up your personal default options here. They will stay with you unless you choose to change them again later.

This is just a tempory solution to this problem. Soon we will add this setting choice to a separate page of the site to make the post pages less cluttered.

I hope you guys really appreciate our quick response. With the poll at dead even for both methods of sorting, we really felt this was an issue that needed to be addressed immediately.

Can you immagine HC fixing this problem this quick? Its been months and they havent even given a reply to the members complaining that the SEARCH feature doesnt even work! HAHAAH

All the best

Thankyou for choosing asxboard.com

As long as you keep the button that takes you to the latest post you haven't read, not to bothered about order of posts.

But as you have the functionality of displaying the post in either order, could it not be pretty easy to add a flag to each individual member, as what order they prefere it (Add it to their control panel) and change your SQL appropriately.

When you have the time of course, happy developing smile.gif

We are having trouble at the moment with programming this option, but maybe in the future we will look into it further. Right now there are a number of other functions we are working on which can be put in place for the short term.

It is likely we will revert back to having newest posts at the bottom.

MAKE A VOTE TO SHIFT IT YOUR WAY.

We will do what the community wants.

New posts should be added at the bottom.
Even better, provide either option in the individual user preferences.
Please do something about it, it's annoying.
