I’ve bought 3 times at these reduced rates. The company is worth much more than this in my eyes.

They have 4 locations highlighted in the UK on the map of their distribution model. Is this just their original intentions or do they think they’re confident that NICE will yield?

I’ve been reading the ...text intended for grant - https://boards.sharecafe.com.au/index.php?a...st&id=52415 and trying to make sense of it.

Is this patent for extensions to the chemical formulation of afamelanotide and for extensions to the uses/indications of it?

I notice they talk about testing and efficacy in some different compounds. Are these compounds for which they’ve received patents something that we may see tested/brought to market?

I’m really not sure what I’m asking just wondering what the real significance of this patent being granted is?

Attention to detail. Cosmetics. Aesthetics.

Although this wasn’t reflected in that silly logo change with the archer (if he allowed that to be signed off). The branding at recent expos has been top notch though 👍

QUOTE
So WHY did Clinuvel offer pharmacovigilance to EPP patients in the US for a minimum of 8 years; essentially placing a roadblock on practitioners who want to prescribe off-label? Can this roadblock be overcome?

Is this the official line? If so I think this is a question we should be asking at the AGM. If PW is the strategist some of us here think he is perhaps there’s a good reason. Maybe that reason has to be kept under wraps. Maybe it doesn’t, and maybe there’s no good reason at all.. Either way I’m curious.

Another question for the board. In the chart attached you can see marked roughly the time of AVITA’s FDA approval last year then the later almighty rise to current levels. Can anyone compare and contrast this against Clinuvel’s situation and potential performance and whether it could be a positive indication?

So this isn’t showing on any of the run-of-the-mill charts. None showing that intra-day high of AU$34.40 and not many showing the full 460,488 but ~260,500 instead. Will we see this registered and its effects tomorrow?

How much does our CEO need the share price to reach to buy his football team?

I wonder if a prospective buyer would be able to offer that at this stage and also if PW would be even willing to sell Clinuvel now. Could be that the success of this company is now his life’s focus more so than owning a club

I’ve always suspected this strategy. Knowledge is power. I’m very curious as to the vitiligo results/progress and when they come out (at the correct time), and the wider public take notice, I have to think that there will be a LOT of attention on us

I’m not sure I’m following the discussion properly -could someone explain why the ADR closed at U$26.49 and didn’t get much higher than U$27 when CUV closed at AU$45? There’s a bit of a disparity there. Is that because we’re used to CUV leading the price but today the ADR is telling us the market’s real intentions and it’s now leading? I wouldn’t have thought so. Or is it something completely different?

Please excuse my ignorance

Bloody hell, I was checking on announcements the whole day and then ended up having to fix a door in an emergency. A few hours later I come back to find the good news and read through every one of your comments.. what a day! I bet you’re all now either sleeping or drunk!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU, THE COMPANY AND EPP SUFFERERS ALIKE!

I’d like to say thank you to all the regular commenters that provided such valuable information and research which helped me stay the course and top up along the way. The scientists, the financial guys, the regular retail investors, all of you! I knew about this company/molecule from ~2004 and ended up buying in in 2009. I hold WAY less than most of you here but today’s decision will still have a great positive impact on my financial situation going forward

All the best to you all and once again congratulations for holding on all this time! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Since we’re telling stories. I heard about this company around 2004 but knew nothing about investing and had nothing to invest anyway. The drug and its potential indications interested me and so I followed the company here and there. I ended up buying stock in around 2009 believing a drug on the market was only a few years away. I held and forgot and later bought on any dips over the years along the way. I was working as a cleaner earning very little but investing what I could from my spare wages and I remember reading these boards from my utility cupboard when I had downtime. I’m sure I even placed a few trades from that filthy little sluice room to be later executed while I slept (bloody ASX market!).

I held through the years and continued to buy on more dips even up until recently and never selling a share. I remember the moment when I saw a video of a poor girl with EPP screaming and suffering from the symptoms of a flare up and how it made me feel that I owned shares in a company that had a product that would actually make a difference to the lives of these people afflicted by this horrible condition. Not often can you invest in a manner where you can be rewarded both financially and consciously. Perhaps this will be the case with vitiligo patients in the future too

On paper, the market value of my CUV shares is quite possibly only even a fraction of what I imagine the majority of you individually have put in and invested but it’s a huge amount of money to me. I haven’t been able to bring myself to sell any though. Hindsight is 20-20 right, and I think we all (that didn’t) wish we’d taken something off the table in the high AU$30’s.

I also would’ve liked to have bought more of AVITA over the years but I literally didn’t have the funds. I’m glad I was able to help a few out here with the tip-off though so that makes me feel better -hope you’ve profited well and I hope that product too will help to impact the lives of the people it intends to treat

Anyway, I wish you all the best with your investments and want to thank those here that have presented some amazing research and information that has helped me to stay the distance, top up etc etc. Some of your knowledge is top class and must’ve been well-earned!

Let’s hope for the best for this week for both the investors, the company and the patients set to benefit from FDA approval

Can you explain how that works, macgyver? My basic understanding of the markets only allows me to imagine that when a large amount of shortsellers have to simultaneously buy back the shares they borrowed and sold and now owe, surely this must create a supply issue therefore increase in price?

This would be my question also. Does the FDA have this type of information in front of them? I hope our application was packed with good use of good statistics. There are so many incidents in scientific studies/literature and the reporting of them where proper statistical analysis has not been applied and incorrect conclusions have been arrived at

I’ve read somewhere, and would like to try to dig it up again that MSH is upregulated during cold exposure/as part of ‘cold-thermogenesis’

I wish I understood more of the biochemistry so I can appreciate some of these findings regarding p53 and what Punkassderm provided below

I do feel intuitively that this molecule and melanocortins in general could have some amazing potential health/longevity effects that we keep hearing about and mentioning on this board

I topped up today because this is a hugely discounted share price. I don’t think The Fool would influence any of the well-informed users here, unless it was to do the exact opposite of their advice.

It’s a lot of volume. Are others noticing the massively discounted buying opportunity being that we’re only a few weeks away from the decision date? I’m not sure we’ll see this opportunity again

“In order to get the same effect as the implant, you have to inject small doses 10+ times a day”

I’m sure I remember reading that once the molecule is bound to the receptor site either its affinity is much longer than the stated half-life which may only be half-life in the blood. Either that or the effects of the initial binding (melanogenesis or the downstream positive effects of melanogenesis) outlast the stated half-life. I could be totally wrong here.

Anyone here know if there’s a resident expert with regards the biochemistry of scenesse?

To me it’s quite a similar investment to Clinuvel in that it treats a medical need but also may have the potential for the cosmetic dermatological market. It sits well with me though that these products can treat conditions that are so devastating and knowing that my financial goals are aligned with those that it can potentially benefit feels good

I’ve noticed that nobody in the comments of the video has mentioned Clinuvel or Scenesse even though it appears that the black lady in the red top was part of the trials and had successful re-pigmentation. We really are under the radar..

Would it be a positive for us if our company was mentioned here? Or is it still safer at this stage to remain inconspicuous?

For afamelanotide to end up in a TV program like this at such an early stage in its history is impressive and shows that in Germany at least its existence is becoming more and more well known

Apologies for beating a dead horse but I’m disgusted by the logo/rebranding

Many might say these things don’t matter but in reality they profoundly affect the credibility a company has. This is the way the company makes a first impression. To new investors, to patients, doctors, to customers, to society. To regulators. This is the image they want to portray. Their identity.

Would it be so dificult to roll things back? Could we possibly petition/vote for a return to the old corporate branding? No hackjob logo, no fumbled Latin.

I remember when I first saw the frilled neck lizard logo in about 2007 I was really impressed. They had a good looking website back then too if I remember correctly. They updated that website a few years later I think and the colour scheme changed which clashed a little. It just seems they’ve got less and less concerned with image over the years

It'll be their own shares they'll be shaking as I don't reckon many serious investors will be letting go of any at this stage in the game.

Look how low the volume has been recently -any movement in share price at such low volumes is meaningless to me

Exciting times ahead

Hi, Newtocli

Can you expand? And are you able to provide an insight into what he's doing and why he didn't apply for Swiss approval?

I'm not a German speaker so couldn't read the article but I watched the clip at the bottom.

Is that an EPP sufferer? Horrendous to watch that poor girl in agony. Really tugged at the old heart strings that. Not to mention the pain of what I imagine her socially restricted life must be like also.

Years ago I invested in this company, admittedly thinking only of the financial rewards that I could potentially reap should the company become successful. My investment sits much better with me now I know that Clinuvel has the potential to help ease, alleviate or even completely terminate the physical and social pain that these unfortunate individuals must endure as a result of this affliction.

Here's hoping that the insurance companies can swiftly come to an agreement so there can be access to Scenesce for all who need it and Clinuvel can obtain the revenues necessary to progress to other debilitating conditions.

For how long do we have exclusive distribution rights? And for which conditions?

Had some spare funds to test the market with so popped a bid in for 525 shares at a limit price of $4.25. Got executed at $4.00.

Interesting all those identical packets..

I wonder what's around the corner..

As enjoyable and informative as your posts are, royco, the final paragraph of your last was a little too poetic for me. Would you care to elaborate for this lowly dyslexic? wink.gif

Also, congrats on your 1000th post

Thank you, royco, you're a valued contributor.

It's interesting that from the photos of her when she was younger, the girl appears to have decent melanin production capabilities. I imagine her skin could produce a tanning reaction but due to her sun allergy, exposure results in a burn. What afamelanotide is reported to do is enhance the tanning response (which, as i stated, I imagine is not her issue) so it's interesting that it appears to be working in another way to reduce inflammation (which has been reported by other users).

Sorry, just thinking out loud smile.gif

Anyway, thanks again for the link, royco.

Quite pleased with the recent rise here. As a long termer here myself I hope a lot of you are climbing back towards paper profits/break-even.

Just out of curiosity, are there any holders here who have used melanotan, afemelanotide, the experimental implants or Scenesse?

Thanks ad0304s, I was thinking/hoping it meant something along those lines.

I just really hope the share value goes up more than KRD's poetic 'once, twice or thrice' prediction. Twice and a lot of us will only break even from these levels.

Merry christmas everyone, hope you're all having a good one and that your investments prove to be rewarding in this 'new' year

All the best

From Philippe's letter:

"We have attempted to direct our Shareholders towards the objective of strategically positioning SCENESSE® and our second molecule CUV9900 as novel drug entities, which eventually will need to be able to withstand competition for at least 7-10 years in US and Europe."

Pardon my ignorance, could someone explain to me from where this competition will come? Is he referring to another company using the same molecule as afamelanotide?

Kind regards

Are there any U.K investors here?

I'm asking as, as a relatively novice investor that is paid in GBP, I'm unsure of making/timing my re-entry into this stock due to currency fluctuations and I'm curious if there are any options to buying this stock without being as exposed to currency fluctuations or what advice people might have in general.

I currently hold Clinuvel shares in my ISA bought from a few years ago so obviously sitting on a little paper loss but I have a feeling that due to the change in AU$ - GBP these losses have been buffered a little up till now. At these prices and at this stage in the game I feel i'd like to top up my holding a little but concerned what the future may hold for the currency fluctuations.

Again as an investor with relatively little experience/understanding of these things could ANYONE offer ANY advice?

Apologies for the slightly off-topic nature of this post but any info would be much appreciated.

Having just seen the slides of the side by side comparisons of UV treatment vs UV treatment + Afamelanotide I am quite impressed.

When I originally invested with CUV, vitiligo treatment was not on the cards so to see this added to the portfolio and see physical qualitative evidence of its practical application is very reassuring from an investment standpoint.

What I do find interesting is why the market hasn't seemed to have reacted to this information. What's the score here?

Do we reckon that if approved for the conditions intended/tested/marketed for, at the costings given, Clinuvel will then think about trying to make deals at lower pricing to the wider commercial "off-label" market?

Is PW telling the big investors to buy shares on the market because Clinuvel don't need the money? I'm just wondering if there'll be any placing to watch out for.

Are we expecting any announcements before the end of the Australian fiscal year? I wonder if anything will be released that might give the sp a boost. At these levels I'm looking at a top up but the continuous downward trend makes me wonder if it's worth waiting...

I understand the potential benefit to try to stop the progression of the condition and to improve the the safety of existing UV light therapy in patients but I'm just wondering if clinuvel propose this treatment will work on a cosmetic level for vitiligo sufferers.

Does anyone know what the proposed trial/treatment combining Scenese and UV will consist of? To even up the patchy skin surely a global UV light source would not be efficient as the healthy pigmentation that can generate melanin combined with afamelanotide would still outperform the under-pigmented lesions, whereas a localised exposure would be difficult to accurately execute.

When Clinuvel test CUV9900 (they state that clinical trials were to commence Q1 2011) will we get a greater understanding of what it actually is and in what form it will be delivered in? i.e, will we get details of the trial that will reveal this information?

Wow KRD, thanks for taking the time to post such an in depth response. Very helpful!

I'm just concerned about what happens to our shares in the event of a take-over/buy-out/partnership. I'm in this for the long term and wouldn't like to see our shares have a limited value in the event of the aforementioned scenario.

I'm a bit of a novice but a CUV shareholder nonetheless, could you explain what a 'buyout' would involve? Is it a buyout of Clinuvel or a buyout of the rights to Scenesse? And where would that leave Clinuvel shareholders?

I know it's a novice question but an explanation would be very much appreciated.

Thanks LRR and polyphemus for your responses.

I've just started to invest in various AIM companies with a view to trade when I can and see fit. Admittedly I am pretty new to this and the type of question I posted here would generally get shunned on some UK bulletin boards but you two took the time to give me your informative opinions and for that I appreciate it. This in fact was the first stock I ever bought and i'd love for it to take off as i'm current sitting on a loss from my 28cent average sp from almost 2 years ago. Here's hoping you're right and this will start to move upwards again.

Regards
