And did someone say DNA repair?

2020 is the year Wolgen pulls the Maserati that's been idling for 15+ years out of the garage.

To echo LevelHeaded's sentiments - the lifetime return on my Clinuvel investment is sitting just south of 1000%. My guess is a lot of folks on this board are enjoying the same.

Are there things about the company, and how management handles certain things, that are less than perfect in my book? Yes. But it's all small time, and any opinions I have about these things are mostly armchair nonsense - I have no idea what a day at the Clinuvel offices is like, what they've been through, and what's ahead.

Wolgen is important. We want him around. With what he just pulled off, I am sure there are plenty of other opportunities for him out there - AND he would still get to keep his Clinuvel stock! Look at him lately - he's tired, hair turning grey, hasn't been heli-skiing in who knows how long? This thing has taken a lot out of him. He deserves a compensation package that's competitive enough to keep him from jumping ship.

Then again, I would say that continuity of management could be a pretty critical thing at this point in the game. No sense in changing horses mid-stream right before the company's revenues are set to take off. Wolgen has been a steadfast, steely-eyed captain of this ship. He has brought the company from nowhere to EMA/FDA approval and, soon, a worldwide rollout for EPP, and Vitiligo.

It would be a shame to lose him, or other key players, because we're nickel and diming at a point where we're all about to become fairly wealthy...if that hasn't happened already for some on this board.

I think executive pay is obscene in general, and runaway capitalism has caused a lot of damage lately. But I'm not really interested in sacrificing this company, and my investment, on that altar at the moment.

By expensive, I meant purely in terms of how many shares I can buy in one go. But I get where you're coming from as far as market caps. So, the face value of purchasing one over the other will be the same for a given dollar amount, but the markets are driven by emotion as well, so having a larger number of shares in a company that people are really interested in can net a higher return. And a share price that's trading as low as Mayne's is has a lot more room for explosive growth than something trading in the $20+ range in my opinion.

And Mithra is a Belgian company, not Brazilian. The product that got my attention, and the one that Mayne is involved with, is Estelle, which this past January turned in some strong results in a Phase III trial. They're laying the groundwork for a world-wide rollout of this drug and, imho, a 2021 approval date isn't that far off. Waited a damn sight longer than that for Clinuvel.

Not sure what the turn-around story is with Mayne, but they're the largest oral contraceptive supplier in the US right now.

Neither of these companies are a sure bet, just saying they look like good bets - more research is needed.

While we're on the topic of other potential investments, I've been looking at Mayne Pharma (MYX) recently as they have just signed an exlusive 20yr supply agreement with Mithra Pharmaceuticals. Details below. Thinking about buying a load of MYX but not sure whether the benefit they will reap with this deal (if Mithra's product gets approval) will be out-of-the-park or not. Certainly Mithra looks like an attractive buy, more so than Mayne, but they're a lot more expensive so I wouldn't be able to buy in too much bulk.

Currently researching other companies that have had exclusive supply deals with blockbuster drugs to see how they faired. Will post anything I find that's interesting.

Agreed. I know there are a lot of people on this board ready to cash out so they can get some of that fuck-you money. I'd love that too, especially after holding this stock for almost 16 yrs. But I've always believed that FDA approval was really the beginning of the beginning. Vitiligo, and whatever other indications (and maybe off-label) uses that come around, are really going to drive this company.

We were at ~$18US on Monday and closed at $26.80 today. There hasn't been any material change in the company as of yet, "just" FDA approval. So now the garage door is opening and the Aston Martin is creeping backwards out of the driveway...

Wolgen is circling his kitchen rug, chain-smoking Gitanes, waiting for the call.

It's interesting. Based on Drugs@FDA, some days the agency approves a boatload of drugs...other days, just a handful. Doesn't seem like it's shaping up to be a marathon day today.

And absolutely those suffering from EPP. I should have mentioned that. Scenesse makes such a huge difference for those folks it really makes me happy to know help is around the corner. I love being outside in the sunshine and don't know what I would do if my outdoor time was restricted to that degree. It would be hugely depressing.

I'm with you on the sleep thing. This run-up to the end hasn't been at all what I expected from a personal/physical/emotional well-being perspective. Very surreal. Fairly unpleasant. Though one of my wife's colleagues at work is about to lose his wife to breast cancer and she's not even 40 years old. So, either way things turn out tomorrow, I'm already wealthy in many ways and it's a privilege just to be here and healthy at this point in time.

I wish the best of luck to everyone on this board. Best of luck as far as your investments in Clinuvel go, best of luck with your health and happiness in life. It's been quite an experience being part of this board for the last 16 or so years.

See you all on the other side, come what may!

And this relates to a concern I've had for years. What happens to the ADR is Clinuvel lists on NASDAQ? Does ADR volume dry up? Will people still care about the ADR because the company is so successful that they're just looking for a way in?

Over the years, I have contemplated converting my holdings to ASX just to be where there's more action.

These final days are harder than I thought they were going to be. Many times, I've been going about my daily routine, no thoughts about Clinuvel, then I remember that Oct. 6 is getting closer and closer. Periodically, I'll check my calendar just to visually see how many days are between us and approval/CRL.

It's a little maddening...trying to stay sane, live life, and remind myself that life will go on however the chips fall.

I am hoping for, and expecting approval - but we shall see.

To come this far, with an additional 11th hour delay no less, with orphan drug and fast track approval status, and everything that confers, and to then get a rejection letter at the very end would be utterly absurd. It would indicate, either on Clinuvel's side, or the FDA's, or probably a bit of both, huge problems with the review process.

One of the reasons I think Clinuvel is sucky at things like press releases, official filings, etc, is that they're trying to do everything in-house. I think their game plan is to save as much money as possible (although the dividend doesn't support this) and remain debt-free so that, when FDA approval comes, they can still handle the distribution to a much larger market themselves. That's going to take some capital - so they're scrimping and saving. Just my theory and, as part-owner of a small business, I know how hard it is to do everything in house. Unfortunately, you've got to pick your battles and accept the fact that some of the things you're doing yourself are just going to come out mediocre because staffing up with people who specialize in these various tasks is expensive, as is outsourcing them.

I'm certain that Clinuvel's exec team wishes they were a privately held company, and in a way I can't blame them. But they're not. Clinuvel is a public company, and when you're riding on a priority review that was granted in January, then a month before the approval date you announce that there's now an additional 3 month delay, an explanation beyond "the FDA needs more time to look at the paperwork" is required.

I've said this before - the leadership team has brought this company a long way, but their lack of transparency is totally unprofessional and unbecoming of a publicly held company. The contempt they show for the average investors (because I'm sure the big players get debriefed in the back room) is astonishing, and complete bullshit.

You are completely correct. We don't know either way. If it just gets down to a pure resource issue, then a lot of other companies should be getting pushed back too, and Clinuvel should state that clearly in more than a couple of lines. If it's not a resource issue, but something wrong with the application package, please refer once again to my profanity-laced tirade below.

So does that mean every company that currently has a date set is getting notified that things have been pushed out 3 months?

As usual, Clinuvel’s language is sparse and open to interpretation, so I hesitate to try and glean anything useful from it.

After all the close communication Clinuvel has supposedly had with the FDA these many years, the extra guidance provided by Orphan Drug status, and the rolling application process afforded to them, and that RTF/Not-an-RTF they got months and months ago, I have no f-ing idea how there are ANY issues with the application at all. I mean, can someone explain that to me? What in the name of all that's holy was missed 5 weeks out from the f-ing PDUFA date that nobody mentioned the whole goddamned time this application was being scrutinized and basically trickling in module by module?

If we ever get approval then great. I'll toast Wolgen, et al. I'm not blaming them or anyone else because we never get any useful information when things like this go down. But the thing that does seem crystal clear to me is that this whole process is a total joke.

I think the newsletter is in keeping with Wolgen’s style. After the uncharacteristically effusive letter from COB, he wants to remind everyone that there’s no fat lady singing yet. Call it a wet blanket, or call it prudent words from our very conservative CEO. I think he’s cautioning against taking an early victory lap.

I really don't want to jinx things, but here's something right from the horses mouth that hints that good things are coming for companies that make it to the labelling/post-marketing meeting, and for companies that get their advisory committee meetings waived...

And the FDA has such a backlog of applications, it could be that they also look for low-hanging fruit (like Scenesse) that already has a long history of use, approval from another reputable regulatory body, and a mountain of data behind it, to just approve and make room for more involved reviews.

Google is very good at inferring things from existing indexed content and understanding contexts. There is now probably enough out there having to do with Clinuvel, FDA approval, the NDA and associated dates, that Google is now including it in its results page.

Pretty sure it doesn't know anything we don't.

I thought trial participants have been reporting their ability to spend HOURS in the sun without any adverse reactions. Did I miss something? We know from a clinical standpoint that kind of thing is tricky to quantify based on skin damage analysis, which I guess is what their focusing on? What about the patient journals and testimonials? I thought that was material to the regulatory process....? Confused.

Who cares what some bureaucrat wants to call the delay. We're waiting, again. The FDA asked for more info at the last minute even though Clinuvel has been "working closely" with them for years, and has been submitting application modules on a rolling basis. Still scratching my head over how something like this happens when you've got all the marbles.

I wonder if letting us know what is actually going on would give our competitors some sort of advantage? Maybe that's why Clinuvel is keeping quite. More likely, they don't give a shit about retail shareholders who've stuck with them for over a decade. I bet the institutionals and "friends" (read: deep-pocketed investors) know exactly what's going on.

I've said it before, mistakes will happen. People are people, and this is a tough nut to crack. But the lack of transparency is appalling, bordering on unethical. And I'd be saying this is the share price was high or low. Obfuscation and lies by omission are the same regardless.

I think one of the perks of the rolling review process and orphan status is wiggle room for this kind of thing so RTF can be avoided. Again, what the hell's the point of all that if, in the end, the FDA says "Nah, not good enough...surprise!"

I would hope that after ALL the back and forth between Clinuvel and the FDA to this point, if someone had an issue with the fact that the product causes the skin to tan, that would have surfaced early on and either resulted in withdrawal from the process, or it would have been mitigated. To have that come up as a potential issue only now borders on insanity, and resides comfortably in absurd.

That's hilarious - and it's basically what Warren Buffett advocates. Buy and hold for geological amounts of time. It's been my practice as well. My account is, in fact, with Fidelity and I mostly don't think too much about it.

But the balance these days is getting fairly large, so it's gone from whispering to me in the night to yelling in my face every morning. Brass balls. Do I have them? I think I do, but the test is getting harder. Clinuvel or bust, baby.

Agreed - there's just too much upside potential post-FDA for them to consider anything short of an absurdly high takeover offer. And they've probably endured far for pain and suffering over the years than the rest of us in the peanut gallery.

I REALLY hope there is no takeover. Wolgen, et al, stated many times in the past that they aren't interested in that and were structuring the company's operations so they could handle everything on their own and contract out where needed (large-scale manufacture, distribution, etc).

Really hoping they stick with that.

General PR about the company - current news that was already sloshing around but now they're making more of an effort to talk themselves up.

For years I was frustrated by the fact that they seemed to purposefully avoid self-promotion of any kind and, now, on the eve of potential FDA approval, it seems like their strategy is working quite well in spite of my own idiotic opinions.

A rose by any other name. Whether it's an RTF or not, the FDA wants more info. We know what it is they're after, and it's not a big deal, so whatever you want to call it doesn't matter.

Still puzzling how this happened given the context of their submission process, but whatever. Just get the extra docs turned in and keep the wagons rolling.

Wolgen has been absent for the last several important milestones, and I don't understand it.

In agreement on all your points - there's still high risk so, like Fidelity, I'm torn. Lock in some profits in case this is it, or play the "steely-eyed missile man" and hold my fire?

The silver lining to FDA rejection is that Clinuvel is still a profitable company, so the share price would take a hit on rejection but won't go to zero.

So far, I fail to see how any of the benefits conferred upon Clinuvel by the FDA have been...well, beneficial. What good is a rolling submission process if it doesn't aid in spotting trouble before it happens. And ditto if the FDA isn't even looking at the individual submissions as they come in? So you can submit things piecemeal or all at once. Either way, wheels don't start turning until the whole package is in so big f-ing deal.

And what about the special access to advisors and guidance Clinuvel supposedly received throughout the ENTIRE frigging process? No one thought to say "Oh yeah, you're gonna need this and this, and we don't see that here. So, before you submit the final pieces, get that together." Did anyone mention that? Larry in building 43, cubicle #247, I'm looking at you!

And what's Fast Track...anyone, anyone? Bueller?

This from the NDA announcement in June:

"Since 2005, CLINUVEL has been in regular and frequent communication with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to discuss the development program for SCENESSE® as a preventative treatment for adult EPP patients."

To have 13 years (!) of correspondence with the FDA, Orphan Drug status, Fast-track approval, the workshops, the rolling review, all lead to a rejection would be the biggest waste of paper and ink the world has ever known. The level of absurdity would be beyond belief.

It is only because I live in a universe where a person like Donald J. Trump is the f-ing elected leader of my country, that I am worried at all. Apparently, monkeys do fly out of people's' asses from time to time.

I'm a web designer and developer by trade and you are correct. The website is an absolute piece of shit. I cannot believe they rolled this thing out with such fanfare.

First of all, the original site looked WAY better. Their original logo looked WAY better. The new logo looks like a fucking hood ornament off my great uncle's Studebaker.

And there are pages in the site navigation that either don't link to anything, or bring you to a "coming soon" page. Are you f-ing serious? If you don't have the content ready but absolutely have to launch the site, then don't put menu choices up that don't go anywhere! Just leave them out until the content is there.

And forget SEO, it's a piss poor effort, or more fairly a completely uninformed effort. Meta keywords? It's 2018.

I hope Wolgen's 12 year old nephew got this project because if an adult is out there who advertises as a web professional, then delivers this to a paying client, they should find a different line of work. Astonishingly bad. I hope it was cheap. Clinuvel obviously does not have anything even close to a CTO on the payroll because this should not have happened.

Yes, I think the fact that all of Britain experiences 3 - 4 days of sunshine per year may have something to do with it. The result of that is the combination of bluish-white skin tone with Scenesse = Donald Trump Orange. Essentially, it would turn the UK into a nation of Oompaloompas.

I suggest Wolgen enacts a Clinuvexit, and sails for sunnier shores.

By the way, my vote for greatest Sharescene post of all time:

"Mind you, I agree with KRD with what he pointed out. Some interesting stuff there. Only wish I was 30 yrs younger. I can just imagine my son running into the hospital in 20 yrs time screaming 'Dad, we're rich!' just as my bowels release the last time."

I could be mistaken, and too lazy to look it up, but we didn't see this kind of volume during past spikes. On a couple of recent trading days, I think volume exceeded what we saw around the time of EMA approval...I think. At least it's comparable. Right?

It's nice to see the price where it is, but it also feels off. And why isn't the ASX tapping us on the shoulder? Maybe I'm just suffering the effects of being in this stock for so long.

I think "bimonthly" can either mean twice per month or once every two months depending on the context. Why the hell would I ever assume Clinuvel would communicate twice per month? Not enough coffee this morning.

We shall see in a couple of weeks if anything hits the Inbox.

FDA EPP approval will see a nice bump in price, but nothing of significance will ever happen until/unless FDA approves Vitiligo. Making bets is fun but this stock is still pink sheet and it's a sleeper.

By the way, where is all the communication that Wolgen promised everyone? Didn't he mention something like bimonthly memos or something like that? So much for New Year's resolutions.

Based on the design of the website, it looks like they're going to party like it's 1998.

Dr. Lim is on the roster - interesting.

No, I don't do the technical stuff...it's Tarot cards for people with money to burn and there's no chart in this world that'll tell you where Clinuvel is headed. I was just highlighting the fact that sometimes things take many decades to pan out. Nothing more. Oh, and Steve Jobs was a prick.

It was a moon shot alright, people seem to forget - we should all be thankful every day that we're here. We should not be bitching about a share price that has appreciated 153% since this time last year. Instead of bashing PW and company from our armchairs, we should wonder at the difficulty of what they have achieved thus far.

And we should be bullish, yet patient.

Ok, I can put up with a lot of the dreck that gets posted to this board, but quoting Eagles lyrics is a bridge too far. Come on man!

$9.85 if no FDA approval, $12.85 if FDA comes through on EPP and we have nice revenues from other online countries.

$15 if we finally get some decent coverage.

Many thanks for the cigar offer. The only smoke I imbibe in now is whatever's imparted to the whiskey in my glass.

I'll say thank you also for organizing that fun little team-building exercise. I've been surprised at the turn this board has taken, who'da thunk bitterness and acrimony would increase so much after such a success as EMA approval?

Well, here'a to an exciting 2017 for us all, many more successes for Clinuvel, sunlight for EPP sufferers, and maybe we can lighten up around here a little...peace, health and happiness to all the Sharescene posters.

CLVLY is currently at $6.66US...I'm not a superstitious guy and I don't believe is mystical hocus-pocus...but can someone buy or sell like one share so we can get off this number? Thank you.

Good point. I don't have access to "the book" - weren't all the trades that put the price over the top relatively small parcels? Yes or no, not sure what that means. I'm not good at reading tea leaves, i just know the basics. I feel damn lucky to even be here.

Whatever happened yesterday, as long as there isn't a major pull-back, I'm happy with it.

Someone mentioned this over on Uh-oh's board, but there has GOT to be a letter coming from the ASX pretty soon asking about this insane price spike.

Can anyone who has access please post the buy/sell activity for the ASX today? I'd be interested to see how the day will potentially shape up before I brush my teeth and go to bed. :-)

Well, thanks for that tip. I'm out of the demographic that would have known that. I'm still under the impression that Brittany Spears is the number one pop star...I'm old.

I'm not sure anything The Donald had said so far passes for what I would call policy. It's basically been angry ranting, dog-whistle insinuation, and ridiculously over-blown promises that he knows he can't ever deliver on - not that he should, and not that he cares. The man is a sociopathic snake oil salesman whose only goal in life is furthering his own ends. He is the embodiment of all the very worst things America has to offer.

Like most political systems, it's designed to protect itself by preserving the status quo. Aside from some social issues (which are not unimportant), there aren't many differences between Dems and the GOP anymore. The whole thing is very worrying and depressing. Things aren't looking good. It'll make Brexit look like a picnic if Donald wins, and it'll be a slow burn if Hillary wins. Lose, lose.
