Hi guys,
Earlier this yr I received an email telling me I had won $2mil (US) to send details so the money could be deposited. It was in some English sweepstakes. (AS IF.....) Anyway thought i'd play along and rang the phone number (which didnt even have country codes or area code) but i figured i'd try Londons code. To my amazement I got a recorded message saying it was the company i was after and out of hours. I rang back later and got onto a very un-english sounding man he asked for my name etc and confirmed that i was the lucky winner. He wanted my drivers licence (told him i didnt drive) and that they would be in touch. Sure enough he did ring back several times, wanting bank a/c details.

It all did sound very legitimate. I rang the Australian authorities and told them about what was going on, they were going to look into it but werent hopeful of catching anyone. I explained to them that the landline I rang in London sounded like it was being diverted to a mobile, and the man was not English.

There are heaps of scams and it is easy to see how people do get sucked in, as this sounded so real, yet too good to be true, also a search revealed there was no such swepstake, it sounded very very similar to a legit one though.

Hi SW,
I'll do my best.....

1. Highlight (make it go blue) the text you want to copy by either (a) moving cursor over text you want to copy and triple clicking mouse. or (b) placing your mouse at beginning of text and hold down left button while moveing mouse to the right over text making sure to cover entirety in blue

2. While text is highlighted hold down the ctrl key and press 'c'
or.... While text is highlighted click on 'edit' a drop down menu will appear select copy

The text u have copied is now stored on computers 'clipboard'

3. Open document you want to insert the copied material and paste it by moving cursor to where you want to insert and
hold down the ctrl key and press 'v'
or go to menu and select paste
or right click, select paste.

Try opening any word document and practice copying and pasting on the same document 1st

Goodluck, Trinity
ps you could try the "Help" option and see if Microsoft can explain it better than me

Hi SW, the paste will be blanked out while there is nothing to paste on the clipboard, you have to copy something first by one of many methods.

(how many different methods are there? ........I can think of a few are there others icon14.gif

Kathy's method....right click on mouse
Ctrl c
edit, copy

WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

For those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students...here is something to make you chuckle. Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was "DON'T!"

"Don't what?" Adam replied.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.

"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit!!!!!"

"No Way!"

"Yes way!"

"Do NOT eat the fruit!" said God.

"Why"

"Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked! "Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" God asked.

"Uh huh," Adam replied.

"Then why did you?" said the Father

"I don't know," said Eve.

"She started it!" Adam said

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"DID NOT!"

Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY! If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!
1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

AND FINALLY:

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

"TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!!

Have a good day,
Trinity

Hi Kathy,
I thought perhaps the lack of respect shown to the pickers where I am was an isolated case due to a nasty boss. Unfortunately it sounds like it is more 'the norm'. It has made me realize how sheltered my life has been, (career, my own business). It has been a real eye-opener for me, and got me thinking what can be done to improve the situation. Perhaps this may explain the lack of incentive for some people to work for a living, and accept unemployment benefits.

I am in a position where I don't need the work and feel like 'blowing the whistle' if I could do so in a way that would make a difference and not jeopardise those who need their jobs.

Hi Kathy,

Thankyou, it was amazing, I have recently picked up some seasonal fruit picking work (not because I needed to work, I wanted the experience of meeting people from different walks of life and doing something that I had never done before) anyhow, I was horrified at the way the management treat the workers! They are treated like second class citizens. Some of the workers are backpackers, others people who have lived very sad and tough lives, from what I have seen though they are all very hard working good people. I was just considering telling the management how I feel, when I read your collection of lovely stories. I will print them, and stick them on the noticeboard. Have already emailed them to many friends.

Thankyou again,
Trinity

Hi Firky,
I sympathise with you. My 13 yr old often did the same thing to my pc, and then claimed he hadn't done anything. Fixed the problem, gave the kids the pc, and got myself a laptop, which much to the kids disgust is NOT for kids use. The kids are gr8 on computers, but fearless, and do tend to download heaps, the latest is mobile phone ring tones.

I find it interesting that this post has been visited 295 times and only received 41 votes. 2 me this means one of 2 things....... either the same few are re-visiting a lot of times, or some people have no opinion. Probably not that surprising really when you consider how many Australians don't vote in elections.

(I voted to retain avatar. Yet to choose my own, such a big decision !!)

Just updated my login address to www.sharescene.com and this has resolved the very minor problem. It was such a tiny issue that it had not really bothered me enough to do anything. But nice to have everything runing smoothly again.

Hi all,
Since listing 12 mths ago pmn has barely put a foot wrong. Their price has continued to rise. I am a little puzzled as to why the have escaped any discussion. Is it simply taken for granted that they will simply continue to move in the right direction icon14.gif

Hi Retroaugogo,
This isn't going to help you, but no I have only held a small parcel of LKO for a short period. However your last post makes me wonder where I can find out a breakdown of numbers of shares held by different entities icon14.gif

Also interessted to hear how other people have been treated by LKO unsure.gif

Best of luck in future dealings with them.

Retroaugogo,
Sorry 2 hear of yr situation. I find it hard to believe that this is LKO's 'normal' behaviour, after my dealings with them.

Yes, I did receive my rights issue, not only that, I received a 'courtesy' call from the company several days prior to the closing date to remind me of the closing date if I was interested. biggrin.gif
