Even though the offer is still conditional, it is the acceptance date, so if you want to shift gains into next year wait til after 1 July before accepting. The reason I ask is because I was referring to BHP's takeover of WMC (2005) where the CGT event date was when the offer became unconditional (if you accepted before this date): http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content....ntent/61706.htm I'm presuming either the laws have changed or the CBH takeover is a different case?
