The potential benefit from the EV revolution is arguably much greater for small-cap equities and the lies within the notion of the value trade. Firstly, companies such as Freeport-McMoRan, First Quantum, Southern Copper and SolGold all offer exciting opportunities. Take the example of SolGold: this miner is currently mapping gold and copper deposits in the Ecuadorian jungle, over just a 50 square km area, however, their share price has rallied 900% in the last year and has hence given them a value of $750m, despite production being possibly ten years away.

SolGold on a roll in Ecuador with finds at Timbara, Porvenir projects

Shares in Ecuador-focused miner SolGold (LON, TSX:SOLG) were slightly up on Wednesday after the company said it has discovered "promising" new copper prospects at the Porvenir and Timbara projects.

 

According to the company, rock chip samples from both assets, located in the south of Ecuador, graded up to 4.27% copper.
