i dont follow NCM at all , but from a personal perspective ,

i gave up trying to catch falling knives years ago.

If i dived into NCM today i would surely be punished accordinly.






Newcrest's Costs


Newcrest, Australia's largest gold mining company, slumped A$2.67, or 11 percent, to A$21.30. The company cut the reserve estimate at part of its Telfer mine in Western Australia, the company's biggest, and said cash costs more than tripled from a year earlier in the last quarter.


``It's very disappointing on the cost aspect and on the reserve aspect,'' said Albert Hung, who helps manage A$335 million at Alleron Investment Management in Sydney. Earnings downgrades are ``very likely,'' he said

datum, in retrospect, it was an implusive buy. lol


thu, it's already been heavily sold down over the last couple of weeks from its peak at about 27.00 down to 21.30 at close. i'll review how ncm and the markets are doing on monday before deciding.

I was under the impression that Mr Smith was trying to make a good impression.


I like what he has done with the hedge-book . . .


Todays ann re: update of Telfer mine was 'nice', but l understand that a contractor died earlier this morning on-site, yet this was not announced. Poor disclosure http://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/thumbdown.gif
