macduffy
Well, not quite, sharp. They did pay a 10cps "special" div two or three years ago but that was as a result of an asset sale. I thought they might do the same after the part sale of LLU, but it seems not. With a few exceptions, I don't consider oilies for their dividends these days - strictly trading stocks for me! sharp737
Ah yes, very true I stand corrected macduffy But it's the only dividend that I know of in a special case. Personally, I still like the idea of a dividend when it can be afforded and trade as well otherwise what's the point (apart from trading alone)? Some of us are more investors, not traders
macduffy
I'm also more an investor than a trader. It's just that I don't think that Australian oil stocks, with a few exceptions, make very good investments. There always seems to be a new "promising" prospect to plough the available cash into! cooderman
out today with a nice profit.... looks like 1.565 is a strong resistance out with an average of 1.563 , if this is the top I will be happy now looking for a pullback, may be even down to uptrend support line at about 1.30 a close above 1.565 and this might become the new support good news in the next couple of weeks and AWE may push towards $2 happy to take profit for now

rosskend
Looks like a good reason for a re-rating - could put AWE in the mid $2 if its as significant as they say! R/Ross
oldgolfer
Hi Ross, Blast from the past. You gave me my Avata many moons ago. Just decided to go back and have a dabble. See some of the old faces are still here, di, nifty balance. Do you guys have a life outside Sharescene? Just joking. I will need to watch Foxtel for some tips. I took VOC on a broker tip and like it Gee I had Awe 10 years ago, not done much has it. Nice talking
cooderman
on a watchlist for a bounce off support at 1.105....could go well below this today....see what happens may be down to .905 level.... a bounce off this level would be worth a risk. nipper
AWE has attracted an unsolicited $421 million cash takeover proposal from US private equity fund Lone Star. As well, there are reports AWE has teamed up with Japanese giant Mitsui, its partner in the Casino gas project in Victoria, to bid for Origin Energy's 50% stake in its Perth Basin gas venture - final bids are due in three weeks. Transerv Energy and Quadrant Energy, (backed by Brookfield Infrastructure and Macquarie Capital, and which acquired the former Apache Australia business in Western Australia last year), are also participating in the auction.
