There are a couple of good announcements today.

The successful commissioning of the new copper smelting plant in Russia is good news. They finished on time, on budget, and the plant is working at or better than forecast.

Now they also have some interest in the AusIron process, with a Mongolian outfit ready to at least have a feasibility study done to investigate the economics of using the AET technology.

If AET can successfully demonstrate the iron technology the future is much brighter.

Cheers

J

That's very good news today. An agreement with Zinifex to toll process smelting residues should give the company some ongoing revenues which it has always lacked.

The news was out and about well before the announcement judging by the rather puzzling rise in shareprice during the day.

Huge turnover and huge rise, so hopefully more to come on Monday. Some more smelter contracts would be handy as well.

Cheers

J

Hi Henrietta. I'd been watching this for a few days and trying to buy in the low 90's, but kept missing it. Tone of the bid/offer changed yesterday, with sellers drying up and new bids arriving, so decided I'd better grab a few on the open at $1.02...

I suspect some of the recent stagnation has been uncertainty over this project, since the original indications would have suggested an announcement by early March.

Hi Henrietta,

Holding and grinning http://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gifhttp://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gifhttp://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif , love the Zinifex news. Thanks again for your great posts on this and other stocks, I find them most informative.

Result out - NPBT up 21% but NPAT up only 7.4% to $3.05m due to utilisation of tax losses. Puts it on a P/E of 13 at current offer price of 97cps. Final dividend increased to 3cps, taking the total to 4cps and yield of 4.1%.

$8.9m cash on hand (22cps) and no borrowings, although this will be pretty much taken up with the $8.6m expenditure on the Whyalla plant.

Outlook remains favourable due to:

* Record number of new smelting projects being worked on

* Start-up of Whyalla zinc toll-processing operation expected late 2007

* Contribution expected from new metallurgical laboratory.

The Whyalla plant is expected to contribute about $30m in revenues over the initial two year contract with Zinifex and will make a material contribution to earnings in the 07/08 financial year.

Also noted the CompanyÃÆâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’ƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¡Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¾Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢s chemicals division made its first significant commercial sales during the latter part of the period ($800,000 to Axis House for use in a DRC copper project). This is good news, as the flotation chemical (AM2) has been said in the past to be a high margin product and sales potential has previously been estimated at $1m-$4m per annum with each customer, so there is the possibility of building a significant long term income stream.

My current valuation is $1.58 per share.

Seems the AM2 chemical sales to the Democratic Republic of Congo are now to be ongoing, at $300k per month, starting December. Excellent news and bodes well for development of further commercial sales. As a result, my valuation increases to $1.72. (Current price, $1.04)
