Interesting article by Sol Trujillo in the US .

Good news for the major telcos who are viable..

Telstra is relatively immune to the broader economic conditions. and the recent interest rate cut had already shown signs of stimulating demand and improving consumer confidence.

Sol is knocking the NBN consortium, trying to undermine confidence. I think he sees it as a real threat to telstras dominance of the net..

Interesting times ahead for the general market.

Some interesting facts fyi:

TLS currently trading at $4.21 and earnings 29.7 cents per share. outlook steady. p/e 15.3

div yield, 28 cents per share, 6.7%.

SOT - TPG currently trading at $0.165 and earnings 4 cents per share. outlook earnings growth..low p/e of 4. div yield, 2.4 cents, 14%.

If Terria gets the nod on the National Braodband Network, later this year, will be very interesting indeed for SOT-TPG and the other partners..

Chart looks like base widening , good sign,

Happy trading,

The Speculator has a quite interesting write up on SOT today.... personally dug the bit about Teoh taking pot shots at the previous management - funny how one can enjoy feeling somewhat vindicated at times! LOL

My read is that if he can put his money where his mouth is and create the changes including winning the Consortium bid, there may be life in the old girl yet... although it will take alot of time I think to rebuild confidence and he'll need some pretty heavy runs on the Board for any considerable impact!

If the Consortia doesn't come through, there is going to need to be a considerable rethink with all those resources going to waste! Thats a load of asetts to write off, and then it seems to question of unhappy customers is still not clear...

Looks cheap at 13c today... and may well be running at half to 1/3rd of its peers.... but still looks like a gamble ATM with so much to be proven... Shame! DL

And having vented my spleen... wonder what anyone makes of the volume today? 7m plus is very significant for SOT! DL

DL, hi,

The sensationalist journalism of Koehler and co is just that at best.

Taking pot shots at companies is how Koehlergottleibsinfootintheirmouths sell themselves..

The proof is in the fundamentals of TPG which are very good.

I hope Teoh keeps taking a hard line with TPG , keeps a tight rein and if he does will bring home the bacon.

TPG has the network, is growing rev. and cutting costs.

And is damn cheap atm

Happy trading..

The company has tried to merge its way out of trouble by acquiring the unlisted TPG Holdings, one of AustraliaÃÆâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’ƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¡Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¾Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢s largest internet service providers, and then taking over Chariot, a small internet service provider that was 70%-owned by TPG. Datum thanks,

The report from intelligent Investor could apply to every share on the ASX. atm wouldnt you agree...

Sure, the competition is fierce in the TELCO sector..but TPG is a major player now with earnings and market position, plus its own network..DSLAMs in exchanges, etc..plus is part of TERRIA bidding for the NBN...

The buyers are back now..

no wonder with a P/E so low...

Glad the Intelligent people are CEASING COVERAGE. at a time when SOT will give the greatest return to investors ever given the financial fundamentals o this company and the turnaround in the market...

Happy trading..

Pleased to see an intention to return the dividend after the half year results and the market seems to feel happy about it this morning ... however still feel that the presentation reads a tad more like advertising than direction! http://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Anyone else get anything out of it? Certainly interested to hear from anyone who attended the AGM about the general mood and Q&A.

Cheers, DL

QUOTE (donnaleighh @ Wednesday 26/11/08 10:21am)

At least we got a bit of guidance about future profit and the dividend return is welcome. From the sound of it they run a bit of a tighter ship than Soul and with DT having a lot of his shareholdings at stake should have shareholders interests at heart. Hopefully up from here but i've thought that before.
