The most advanced are the plans at Terra E, an industrial consortium from Germany, which now has 18 companies involved - including, for example, the battery manufacturer BMZ. Managing Director Holger Gritzka is hoping for a bigger financial injection for his own project after the summit in Brussels, where he took part. "The Commission has a very strong interest in supporting the issue financially, and concrete steps will be agreed in the next few weeks", he told the Automobile Week . There is also a willingness on the part of the Confederation to provide further support.

Re erlier post on this subject of EU Commission (extract above) Stefaan Vergote from the European Commission is a speaker at AABC Europe: Advanced Automotive Battery Conference 2018, 29 Jan 2018 - 01 Feb 2018 ÃÆâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’ƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¡Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬ÃƒÆ’â€Å¡Ãƒƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ Mainz, Germany and will make some announcement re the EU's LEM - including "a batteries initiative" Not sure if that's the TerraE GF? BMZ's Sven Bauer is also a speaker - he's also on the TerraE advisory board

9:20 The Low Emission Mobility Package and Implications for the Battery Market in the EU

Stefaan Vergote, Advisor Dir. C Climate Strategy, Governance and Emissions of Non-Trading Sectors, DG Climate Action, European Commission

Later in 2017, the European Commission will come forward with the Low Emission Mobility package, comprising the following elements: i), a legislative proposal regarding the CO2 performance of new cars and vans in a 2030 perspective, ii) an Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Plan, addressing the deployment of charging infrastructure in the EU, iii) a Batteries Initiative, to support EU projects along the battery value chain. We will outline the key elements of these initiatives and consider the potential implications for the future development of the battery market in the EU.

Still low volumes boots, saw the chase happening and was tempted to ask you for the depth :P. Sell side is still really thin for a while and the buys are building. Been sitting at these levels too long and with all the potential upcoming announcements in the next month or two could easily jump up significantly on some good news

Good to see the SP rise above the 45 - 46c range, but as Amorga said volume low and needs to pick up.

The Qld early election call could see some announcement coming re the Townsville plant. I think the Premier called an early election for a number of strategic reasons and has some fire power yet to be revealed towards the latter stages. Her platform is certainly jobs and clean energy. She visited Airlie Beach this morning - bypassing Townsville - I think she's saving Townsville announcements till later in her campaign. It will be interesting to see if those announcements include the proposed GF.

By contrast, the LNP has been encouraged by Malcolm Turnbull to apply for federal funding for a new coal-fired power station for north Queensland.
