watchmaker
It's speculative as far as REE goes, but Crossland(CUX) a uranium play, has made two reports of substantial near surface deposits of rare earths. They jumped significantly on the first news in early Nov and since then the price has drifted down. Nonetheless, it does appear they are onto something big

XtRmSt
i have mentioned on the FTE page but id like to ask you guys following this thread what you think about the rare earth assay in the republic of guinea "Results of five RC samples reveal presence of Rare Earth Element (REE) at the CompanyÃÆâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’ƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¡Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¾Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢s Firawa Uranium Project, Guinea" "The Firawa JORC compliant Uranium resource was calculated from approximately 7000 drill samples, most of which remain intact, stored on site at Firawa. Following these successful intermediate REE results, the Company has taken the decision to commence the process of reassay of all of these samples, with the objective of calculating a JORC compliant REE resource at Firawa in addition to the existing uranium resource. It is hoped that this re-assay project can commence in January 2011." i couldnt work out if the quantity was anything worth keeping an eye on or not love to hear what you guys think cheers
mullokintyre
China has nationalised its rare earth mines. BEIJING (AFP) ÃÆâ€â„¢ÃƒÆ’ƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¢ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’…¡Ãƒâہ¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚¬Ãƒâ€¦Ã‚¡ÃƒÆ’‚¬Ãƒâ€Â¦ÃƒÆ’¢Ã¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚¬Ãƒâ€¦Ã¢â‚¬Å“ China has brought 11 rare earth mines under state control as Beijing consolidates the industry -- a move analysts said Thursday could drive up prices of the elements, used in mp3 players and hybrid cars. Authorities have targeted mines in the eastern province of Jiangxi, which is rich in heavy rare earths, as it seeks to strengthen "protection and reasonable development" of the sector, the land and resources ministry said this week. China, which produces more than 95 percent of the world's rare earths, has tightened control over the metals by slashing quotas for overseas shipments, hiking export taxes and cracking down on heavily polluting mines. The moves have raised concern overseas that China was abusing its market dominance of the 17 elements used to make everything from wind turbines to flat screen televisions. The ministry said Monday the 11 mines covering an area of 2,534 square kilometres (978 square miles) were the first batch of "state planned mining zones" for rare earths. Analysts said the move to bring the mines under state control was a key step towards consolidating the fragmented industry in the south and would likely increase the cost of the elements. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110120/bs_af..._20110120113415 So, will see how our REM stocks go today.
