ShareScene Moderation Policies / FAQ

A list of current Policies and Frequently Asked Questions

19,000+ Members, 640000+ Posts, 24 hours per day, 365 days a year..

 

It is humanly impossible for us to read every post made on ShareScene daily, with this limitation in mind we rely on ALL members to use the http://www.sharescene.com/style_images/ip.boardpr/p_report.gif to highlight any possible issue they discover.

 

If you have an issue with someone's post please;

 

  • Refrain from replying directly (as this normally only inflames the issue)
  • Use the http://www.sharescene.com/style_images/ip.boardpr/p_report.gif function (this creates an alert that is sent to all moderators)
  • Allow time for moderation to occur (most issues are addressed within 1 hour, depending on the time of day

Moderation

 

  • Posts can and will be deleted if they violate any of the ShareScene's Terms of Use.
  • Post bans (7, 14, 21 or 28 days) can and will be applied if the Terms of Use is violated.
  • Repeated Terms of Use violations can and will result in your account being closed.

Post Deletion

 

Please do not make a new post asking why a post was deleted. If you want to know why, IM the Moderator and/or ShareScene.com, and politely ask them for an explanation.

 

Posts or IM's that contain abuse or insults, will result in immediate further moderation being applied to the member.

 

What if I feel that the moderators got it wrong?

You can use the CONTACT ADMIN function with your complaint. Please note Administrator's decision is final.

Multiple Accounts

The act of posting under a different username is viewed as a possible attempt to mislead others.

 

What happens when someone is caught using multiple names? Both it and the original account will be disabled without notice.

Complaining that you were not aware of Sharescene's Terms of Use is not a valid excuse.

 

If a member chooses to continue to create multiple accounts be warned that we will not hesitate to report breaches to their ISP's abuse department. As almost all ISP AUPs include clauses regarding user behaviour on websites, such a report can result in the termination of your ISP account.

 

It is our goal to maintain a fair environment for all members, that is "One person, One voice".

Other Policies

"ShareScene.com has a policy of not allowing posts of a overly political or religionist nature. The policy is in place as the discussion of politics normally results in multiple Terms of Use violations."

 

The discussion of politics and/or religion can be very polarising and often become very personal in defending personal beliefs. More so text based communication (i.e. posts on a forum) can often be misunderstood and taken the wrong way.

 

With both these points in mind it is normally only a matter of time before personal attacks occur, the discussion turns ugly and we are then forced to spend hours in moderating the issue.

 

The policy affects posts of a "overly" political or religionist nature. There is a big difference between a passing political comment and a diatribe.
