Petert20
The downside risk due to lifting of the shorting ban may not happen. Shorting allows a share to realize its current perceived value in quicker time. The shorters would have to cover their shorts on any share price strength, often causing a spike in the share price. Mags
It will be interesting to see how the return of short selling will affect MQG, the increase in liquidity, may infact be positive for a profitable investment bank in this market (The only profitable investment bank in the world at the moment, IIRC). snapper
G'day We were not in a position to come up with an extra 10 - 15 k so I sold some today at $34 and put in for 15k worth in the SPP at $26.60. That way I will end up with more shares for no extra cost after the sums are done Garry
Mags
Snapper, not a bad strategy. And given their drop since I purchased I may be able to take a capital loss and offset my income tax. I guess my accountants about to get a phone call.

anglingdarma
Honestly, I am a bit nervous because I am gonna apply for the SPPÂ Â
jr007
Remember there's no guarantee you'll be alotted the full $15k....its a SPP not a rights issue......depends on how much extra the company want to raise at that price. Fair chance it may get scaled back in my opinion. Cheers JR
Petert20
I bet they'll take as much as they can get. Cheers, Tortoise.
