Peak Oil/Peak Exports

Matt Simmons goes mainstream.

Attached is an article from Fortune magazine about the man and his views. I first read about the peak oil concept from a Fortune article about Richard Rainwater, who is also into peak oil, back towards the end of 2006. Fortune gave both Mr Rainwater and Mr Simmons and their views a good hearing IMO.

QUOTE
(Fortune Magazine) -- Matt Simmons is as perplexed as anyone that it has fallen to him to take on OPEC, Exxon, the Saudis, and all the other misguided defenders of conventional wisdom in the oil patch. Why should one investment banker with a penchant for research be required to point out what he regards as the obvious - that from here on out, oil supplies can't meet demand, and if we don't act soon to solve this crisis, World War III could be looming?

Great article triage,

Matt Simmons is a superstar!

It must be so frustrating for him, as the world heads towards the abyss. He's shouting at the top of his voice that collision is imminent, but no body believes him.

Ice

"World not running out of oil, say experts"

No, it's not about running out of oil...........we reached max production and now falling supply is about to meet rising demand.

I think Matt Simmons has a little more cred than cera.

Ice

Demand destruction and vaible alternatives will cushion the impact of Peak Oil and possibly delay it for another 50 - 500 years . Anyway its all subjective at this stage.

Need to concentrate on work now. Lots of roadkill from Matt Simmon Disciples to be had.
