SP doesn't reflect future prospects?? Guess all those analysts working to figure out likely future earnings, DCF valuations, etc.. are wasting their time then truffle?? Re. Aristocrat that's right....good stocks go up...bad stocks go down...just adds to the opportunity cost of investing in these crooks...anyway good luck...I'm out and only posting because I hate dodgy public companies and I reckon these guys are....maybe wear your kabalah bracelet if you're buying more!!

In reply to: truffle on Wednesday 30/11/05 05:04pm Truffle...either the market has got it badly wrong or the the 'we saved you from certain death' really doesn't wash......Why? Because a company's future prospects are unltimately reflected in the SP and the SP says that the company is worth half as much now as it was two years ago, under these guys stewardship...and this is in a very favourable domestic market.....sack em...they are crooks.

From FY05 presentation by CEO in Sep: "Plant Hire - Growth in Cycle expected to continue to at least 2009" Now taking bottom end valuation in a dodgy related party transaction to Kerry Stokes 'because we're selling at the top of the cycle'. Scorecard says management have seen shareprice halved over 2 years (28 cents on Dec. 03) and even worse if you look at top price following management spin just prior to another cap raising......so long time with no value add. Clarke gets dropped, Martyn gets dropped, Eddie Jones should go and so should Casey and co.. Just tell me Truffle, on what measure have they done anything like a good job?? Dividends? Strategy? Execution of business sale? Growth? New Markets????? And why would you trust them to sell the last bit of silver so they can reposition what's left?? Like my Irish mate says....they've done nuttin'. Just nuttin'.

My opinion. Feed the market rumours about management buyout at 30cents plus. Give a nod to those in the know to get out. Then announce that the business is underperforming. Nice work for those inside. From SMH Oct. 20 Nylex whispers A quick share price rise, unusually large share trades and a speeding ticket from the Australian Stock Exchange still don't add up to anything worth reporting, says diversified industrials group Nylex. Well, OK. There was the little statement denying widespread market speculation that Nylex's management was contemplating a buyout of the company at 35c a share. According to the speculation, Nylex's management has been sounding out the merchant banks about lending the $354 million that would be needed to fund the rumoured 35c per share acquisition. If true, this would represent a tidy premium for shareholders, with Nylex shares falling 1.5c to 26c yesterday. Canny investors may have read between the lines of the brief statement, which appeared far from conclusive in quashing the rumour. "There is no formal proposal being considered by the management or board," said Nylex managing director Glen Casey in the statement released to the ASX. Xchange thinks that means "Not yet guys".

Out. Hate this stock. Casey and his crew are as dodgy as they come. Another great deal for shareholders - except NLX goes down and NHR flies. Follows brilliant result from capital raising. And business strategy? Grow AH Plant...oh no changed our mind....we're out of that and focused on manufacturing....but we're selling automotive because can't make money manufacturing...and now..oh yeah it's water treatment and consumer prods that are the winners.....and we're not returning capital...we're gonna use the money to buy manufacturing businesses because you'd trust us to know a good deal.....i can't believe I ever got sucked in....never again. http://www.sharescene.com/html/emoticons/grrr.gif

alternative theory....wind up rumour mill while those in the know get out ahead of further profit downgrade or similar.....I don't believe this just an alternative theory....holding some anyway....

    LLP

Some good announcements starting to flow through for PLF and sub holders starting to appear......they have run a lot already this year but if they get through the remaining issues with non-compliant schemes they could really start to run....strategy and position look good.
  11. How much more evidence of pump and dump is required?? Pick up the best bets instead....at least you might get a fair dinkum run for your money.

How much would Corrigan be hating this??!! "As a minority shareholder we have been somewhat frustrated by the delay in implementing new business initiatives, such as the frequent flyer program and the decision made not to hedge Virgin Blue's exposure to fuel prices," Sir Richard said. "We look forward to meeting these challenges and revitalising this exciting and innovative business."

    PRK

I agree King......this is going to be an interesting play....Corrigan looked like he had outpointed Branson with VBA but now Branson looks like he can buy back even cheaper.... "Toll has entered into an agreement with Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, which currently holds approximately 25 per cent of Virgin Blue, in connection with the proposed restructuring of the shareholding in Virgin Blue," Toll said." Can't wait to read the response from PRK...will be hard for shareholders to say no....

    PRK

DB (and others??) continuing to buy large.....PRK vulnerable after gearing up for VBA buy and subsequent underperformance.....Little does a deal with Branson and Godfrey to buy back VBA and Toll gets PRK assets it needs.....game on??
  19. hey zorro....maybe the board will get more interesting when the company starts releasing something more interesting than the 15th rehash of how they might 'release value for shareholders' or restate what nano technology is or say how a big player like Dow put some spare change into them or how some journo in a magazine nobody has ever read reckons they are an exciting prospect, or complain about how the market doesn't understand.....the most exciting thing for SPL lately has been share price slump to below what is was 5 years ago on listing and still no sign of ever actually making a commercial dollar rather than sustenance fundnig from government hand outs......I mean zorro you sound like an exciting guy....maybe you've got something to add??
  20. During the 1931 Melbourne Cup Phar Lap was handicapped at 10 stone, 10 pounds (a stone  a British weight measurement  equals about 14 pounds; so 10 stone + 10 pounds = 150 pounds), which was 22 pounds overweight for his age. The weight was too much for him and he finished eighth. ETW is no phar lap but sounds like it's carrying a lot of weight....I've been waiting to buy but finally decided risk is too high even at current prices.
  21. But the fact they are paying a dividend on ordinary shares presumably bodes well for the survival of ETW and ability to pay ETWG?? Sorry a misread...from the announcement today no dividends will be paid....

I'm still holding and needless to say very happy with recent run up in SP. Analyst reports I have seen suggest more upside from cost cutting, debt reduction and business improvement. Restructure and sale still a strong possibility also......

Nicely off and running again on results announcement.....will probably make $10plus on fundamentals now.....a bidder out there?? maybe not.

Happy days Yogi? NAL trading at all time low. Strange days if they go up.
  25. OK so Richard Goyder is now in the CEO chair, WES are cashed up on coal and Chaney is enough of a planner to know that he needed to leave a few 'wins' for his successor.....my tip is they are about to buy CRG (see posts under CRG)........I give it 30 days....fingers crossed
