In reply to: mptrader on Friday 02/11/07 10:21am Close mptrader - if this is true then it is about $19.80 DJ ChemChina Offers A$3.4B For Nufarm - Report SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--China National Chemical Corp. and Blackstone Group (BX) have made a A$3.4 billion unsolicited takeover bid for Australian pesticide company Nufarm Ltd. (NUF.AU), The Australian Financial Review reported Friday. Nufarm had said Thursday it was considering an offer from an undisclosed source, and said it would say more before the start of trade Monday. The South China Morning Post reported Wednesday that ChemChina subsidiary China National BlueStar Group and U.S. buyout firm Blackstone were considering a revised offer for Nufarm after Nufarm rejected a A$17.10 a share, or A$2.9 billion, bid from the pair several weeks ago. The Australia Financial Review said Nufarm is hopeful of securing the interest of possible counterbidder Israeli crop protection company Makhteshim Agan and European private equity firm Permira, which recently acquired Nufarm competitor Arysta. The newspaper said Makhteshim had a close look at Nufarm in recent months and appointed Citigroup to advise it on takeover strategies. Industry sources said Makhteshim's interest in Nufarm had waned but they expected the Israeli group to participate if Nufarm Managing Director Doug Rathbone chose a formal auction process, the newspaper reported.
