In reply to: savtin on Tuesday 02/08/05 02:27pm Fredrick go read the HTW last ann. last week, they just started calf trials. How long do you think that will take? Then they have to round up hospitals for human trials before they start, if animal trials are successful. Then this should take at least 2 years Where do you get 2006? You are getting vcr confused with HTW

In reply to: King Baz on Tuesday 02/08/05 01:55pm LOOKS LIKE HTW is getting worried about the potential near commercialisation of VCR. HTW is years away, only just started calf trials so human trials wont start till at least 2006 and may take years, however it looks like VCR is on track to finish trials next year. Lots for HTW to worry about. Now, if I were sued, I think I would also counter sue to try to defend myself, wonder who is acting for them is a law firm mentioned?

In reply to: hd1 on Tuesday 02/08/05 07:39am I hold VCR shares on fundamentals only and often get my entry wrong and appreciate charting input. I dont trade VCR, try and buy the dips and hold I believe in the technology and hopefully it will win approval to market. However I appareciate charting help here so that I get my entry right. It would be appreciated if VCR (depsite their anouncement that they wont be keeping the market informed about particular implants) would at least announce whether they are implanting the device into younger, healthier recipients yet. This would make the device more commercially viable in my opinion rather than just inserting it into the old, dieing, patients they announced last year.

In reply to: 10fingers on Friday 29/07/05 10:06pm Sunshine dims but limits damage after death By Rebecca Urban Biotechnology Reporter July 30, 2005 Page Tools Email to a friend Printer format Shares in Sunshine Heart experienced heavy trading after the company announced the first patient to receive its heart assist device had died almost three months after receiving the implant. The New Zealander, aged 56, died last Sunday because of multi-organ failure. An autopsy found that his death was not connected to the surgery or the company's C-pulse heart assist device. While almost 600,000 of the company's shares were traded yesterday  almost 10 times the total number on issue  the share price largely withstood the news, softening just 3¢ to 30¢. The company's director of corporate affairs, Crispin Marsh, said the adverse incident, while sad, would not stop the pilot trial going ahead. He said the patients to be enrolled were typically very sick and it was expected that some might die. The first patient had been suffering heart failure for at least 15 years, which was compounded by diabetes as well as kidney and liver problems. Advertisement AdvertisementHe died one week before he was due to attend his three-monthly check-up. The pilot trial is the first time that the device has been left inside the patient. The trial involves six patients.

In reply to: carneius on Tuesday 26/07/05 02:08pm im in same boat carneus. Hold a large holding and didnt think the announcement was bad enough to sell to .55 or so. Am still hoping a large pharma may take mbp up once the lower dosage trials is finalised. It will be a cheaper drug to manufacture, and hopefully only up to 12 months away now.

In reply to: johnmcconks on Tuesday 26/07/05 09:25am I believe that there has only been on big buyer on HTW, or so he says on h/c. If he decided to sell it would be in trouble. Please corret me if im wrong.
  13. In reply to: joyful on Saturday 23/07/05 04:46pm I believe they are speaking to sleep clinics in queensland. There are more people with sleep apohnea in qld due to the average age of the population there. One doctor owns 3 clinics himself and hopefully will be trialling SOM soon. Perhaps he already is trialling it. Time will tell, with more announcements. Im not sure why they are not keeping the market more informed.

In reply to: equusmedical on Friday 08/07/05 11:50am one cannot compare the population of US to that of Australia. Our specialists all train overseas because there is a lack of population here for them to learn on. It usually takes 2 yrs specialist training here then 2 - 3 yrs extra training overseas where there are numbers to learn on. Hence the need to go overseas with the trial. There is no way we can supply, with our small population the numbers needed to prove whether the device works. It is possible they can do 100 implants in a year in the US. Perhaps even less time.

In reply to: bunny123 on Friday 08/07/05 08:43am they have made it quite clear that so far they have implanted into people on death's door then "The first stage will be a feasibility study placing the device in 10 seriously ill patients. Then, up to 90 patients will get VentrAssist under a "bridge to transplant" regime. This is a term for patients who might die before a heart can be found for them. Then up to 400 patients categorised as "destination" will go under the knife. Destination-classed patients are people who will never get a heart transplant due to age or ill health and could use VentrAssist as a long-term solution. Importantly for Ventracor and its investors, the company has brokered a deal with the US government to reimburse the hospitals $US140,000 ($189,000) for the cost of the procedure first 10 in US will also be people who will die if they dont have the implant"
